I did hatch oothecas once, got them at Costco.
It was sooooo much work, got like 300 mantises, they were just pouring out, problem is you have to separate them or they cannibalise. So imagine having hundreds of cups to feed. I ended up letting em loose outside.
Fun project but I wouldn’t...
This Post had me recalling a few times were I encountered a chameleon going in a death spiral.
Sometimes you have to administer food, water or meds forcefully. At times, specifically with WC, the situation can get ugly and it just feels like you did more harm than good after giving...
good read, in my experience with WC (T Vosseleri, Panthers and Parsonii), this part pretty much sums it up:
''In my own experiences with several wild-caught chameleons a pattern began to emerge. I found that during the first few weeks to a month most chameleons consumed food eagerly and...
Domes are the way to go, in my experience all the Chams I have owned hate pressurized mist.
I’m going to build and test your design, I like the idea of it being round and compact, we all now how cluttered top of cages get 😬
That looks amazing, i had a lot of success with planted glass cages in the past with African species. way more control, specially here in Canada when winter gets really dry indoors. i went back to screens simply due to « peer pressure » I guess, but I always loved glass with proper intake and...
SO, after this setback. Let's continue this thread, I will focus on husbandry changes I applied within the last year
I decided to control the entire room temperature. Below is the set up and current weekly highs, lows. It gets a little high at peak, but I have no heat lights in the Parson...
Hello everyone, it's been a year and a half since I last posted here. The death of this Parsons almost drove me away from the hobby. it didn't, but coincidentally, at the same time, I had difficulties with my business (apparently, workers vanished after COVID here in Canada 🤷) and had to work 7...
Devastating day, it was impaction after all. I put so much effort and years experience in this breeding project, and it’s the damn outdoor tree I put her in for some natural sun that caused her death. And now I’m the cause of one more dead wild Parsons.
She threw this up this morning, it’s a...
Update:
She’s entering a new phase, now she only wants to go down to the floor.
It’s weird cause she is physically getting much stronger, her grip is as good as it can be and making me bleed. She also had a really long drink today under the mister.
But something is really up with the vision...
I have to speak To the vet and apparently she’s to busy to call me back (48 hours now). So only way to see her Is do the emergency lineup again. This place is HuGe. It’s the main emergency vet in all of Quebec. Money making machine. 300$ per visit, I ok for the money I would transfer it to...
Great! I’m going to replace carnivore diet with bug juice.
I’m in a bad spot, emergency vet wants me to drive down there (2 hours) again with the Chameleon, so she can prescribe the baytril and I can’t right now.
