I followed kinyongas techniques, but added more holes as the humidity was way too high in the container (100%) and I feared them bursting. From what I’ve read on here and chameleon academy, it seems that it’s better to be too dry than too wet, so I decided to err on the side of caution. The...
I’ve had a batch of 29 eggs for a little under 2 weeks and just wanted to make sure my conditions are correct for them.
- Setup: unfertilized damp perlite in an XL sandwich Tupperware, paper towel lining the lid to stop dripping on the egg. Box is wrapped in a dark towel tucked away in a low...
My female veiled Helene has decided that the day after hurricane Milton was the best time to lay. I was expecting it, but not that day! She started laying as soon as I moved her and her plants back outside to her patio in the 15 minute span where I didn’t have a barrier to block her from digging...
Thanks for the pics, now, I am currently in an area that got absolutely pummeled by Milton, so I was barely able to find vermiculite, so coarse Verm is off the table for the time being. Of course she decided to lay at the most inconvenient time possible in the most inconvenient place 🤣🤣. I can...
Thanks for the info! Glad I bought the big bag lol. I use the term incubator loosely since it’s just a shoebox that’ll go in my closet. I have perfect temps in my home for them!
So it finally happened! My female veiled laid her clutch! It took her many hours but she just finished up. I have mixed up a batch of vermiculite following the instructions of a post I read on here. Not too wet, but wet enough that a few drops drip out when squeezed. I was wondering if it should...
Indeed, hindsight is 20/20. All we can do now is pick up the pieces, I hope that we will learn from CA's successes and shortcomings! Hawaii's management has already been a valuable tool to us already regarding pheromonal trap baiting, so I am sure all three states will learn and grow from each...
That’s where I started looking at first, but I haven’t found them in the creeper vines. They are in relatively close proximity though, so I bet they use them to get around. There haven’t been public sightings of Oustelets for a while. You’re likely right about Jacksons unfortunately. I have...
As some of you may have seen from my first thread, I promised to post some of my observations of wild populations here to aid in husbandry, enclosure ideas, and increase the amount of data regarding Chamaeleo calyptratus' habitat preferences. Here in Florida, we have an excellent tropical...
He could be shy lol, they are also a little bit derpy when they're young, so it could be that as well. if he is in a glass enclosure, he may not be getting enough grip to climb. I have also heard that the babies reside on forest floors or low levels of foliage, as that's what their camouflage is...
Its likely the Tropical House Gecko (Hemidactylus mabouia), but I have seen similar colorations on the Mediterranean House gecko (H. turcicus). The wikipedia pic is an adult, but the lil babes look just like your picture. Hope this helps!
