Male veiled keeping mouth slightly open sometimes

The enclosure has a glass front and back, but the two sides are all mesh. How can I improve circulation? I keep an overhead ceiling fan running most of the time in this room, since I work in here with him!

Male veiled keeping mouth slightly open sometimes

Here's another shot: Temp reads 81F in basking area and 53% humidity. I just misted him a bit ago, so the humidity is a bit higher than usual for daytime. I try to keep it in the high 30s during the day. He shoots his tongue fully out when he goes for food. He's been pooping a ton, like two...

Male veiled keeping mouth slightly open sometimes

Hi yall, 9-month-old male Veiled has been opening his mouth slightly throughout the day. I've caught him doing this three or four times now, but he always closes it as soon as I approach, so I had to take this photo from super far away. He's looking at a hornworm in this photo, but he...

Where to order hornworms in California?

Hi everyone, I'd like to order some hornworms online. I live in California, so the retailers I've found online are trying to charge me $10 to $33 to ship a small cup of hornworms to my house. It's outrageous. The price of hornworms is also absurd at pet stores here; it's $10 for 4 worms at...

My crickets keep dying. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks Skittles. I wish my chameleon would eat Dubia. There are still Dubias living in his bioactive terrarium from like 3 months ago when I last tried to get him to eat them. Am I feeding the crickets correctly? Should I give them any other foods?

My crickets keep dying. What am I doing wrong?

Hi all, I've got one of those cricket containers that has 4 black tubes for them to climb into for darkness / hiding. The tubes slide out for easy pouring into a feeder cup. In the container, I keep a dry paper towel with plenty of mustard greens and shaved baby carrots. I used to keep a piece...

Help me find the right UVB light fixture + bulb

Hi everyone, I've currently got a 14" Zoo Med T5 HO UVB fixture with a Repti Zoo 5.0 bulb inside. This fixture does not span the width of the cage; I need something around 22". I was thinking of buying this one: Repti Zoo 24W T5 HO UVB 22" but I can't figure out if it's got a 6% bulb in it...

Health check: wet poop, orange urates, and dull skin on head

Just wanted to bump this and tell everyone that we installed a CLEAR feeder on the cage wall, and Charms has been FEROCIOUSLY EATING OUT OF IT! He's put on 10g since I last posted. Apparently the color of the feeder really matters to this guy! Thanks everybody

Little guy having an unusual shed?

Hi everyone, I've got a 6-month-old (maybe 5?) male veiled chameleon, and he's just now experiencing his second shed. It looks different from his first. His first shed was 6 weeks ago, and it looked as normal as any shed I've ever seen in a reptile: he basically "unzipped" from tail to head...

Health check: wet poop, orange urates, and dull skin on head

Thanks for your feedback. Just to be clear, I am not holding this little dude almost ever; only to weigh him once a week. I'm not trying to play with him or anything. I understand chameleons are to be left alone, especially veiled chams.

Health check: wet poop, orange urates, and dull skin on head

He will not eat out of a gallery. Or feeder cups. Or hand-feeding. Or anything at all, ever. He will only eat bugs that crawl around the enclosure, and even when he does that, it's only about 5 bugs a day. We have to go in and remove bugs all the time. I don't understand how his humidity is too...

Health check: wet poop, orange urates, and dull skin on head

Hi everyone, my 5-month-old male veiled is looking a bit discolored, and his urates are orange -- but his poops are still super wet and slimy. I wanted to ask for a health check. This little dude is 16.1g, up from 12.4g exactly one month ago. He eats crickets (confirmed), dubias and wax worms...

Possible eye problem with male veiled?

Hello everyone, My 5-month-old male veiled seems to be having an eye issue. My wife noticed his right eye looked a bit different from the left eye one morning when she turned on his lights. First, it looked like it was bulging a bit, and then later it looked a bit sunken in. We've caught him...

New veiled has bumps on his side / burrowing questions (with tons of photos!)

I mean, the roachies are smaller than my pinky fingernail. And I bite my nails, so those are pretty small. But the crickets vary in size; they're never the tiny ones, even when I order them.

New veiled has bumps on his side / burrowing questions (with tons of photos!)

It's about 90% at bedtime after misting, and it goes down to 50% by lights-on. Is that ok? I seriously do not understand how he's putting on weight while not eating hardly anything. Maybe 3-5 bugs a day.

So what is the ideal humidity in the enclosure for night time, if temps are at 68F?

New veiled has bumps on his side / burrowing questions (with tons of photos!)

Hey, nice to hear from you. Thanks for the feedback. I'm shocked he's a boy! We kept going back and forth... I will check Charms' eyes and get back to you. I'll try to get better photos. Charms sometimes digs around in the soil at the bottom of the cage. We don't know why. We don't think he's...
