    Panther vomited 😬

That’s very sweet. I should mention that I’m based in the UK, I suspect there might be an Atlantic Ocean between us? Either way, thank you, I’ll need some time but I have such a kinship with these animals that one day I’m sure I’ll be ready to care for one again.

    Panther vomited 😬

Thanks for the kind words. I’m sorry to report that my little green friend didn’t make it. The vet diagnosed severe kidney disease, they did what they could but said if they kept treating him he would not fully recover, and would have a short and painful life, and strongly recommended...

    Panther vomited 😬

Thanks to everyone for sharing their thoughts and opinions. My cham has now been hospitalised and they’re doing what they can but it’s not looking good. He’s only 2 years old. I keep thinking back to my husbandry and I can’t think what I could have done better. Perhaps I should have taken him...

    Panther vomited 😬

Today is not looking good. He hasn’t drunk any water and has barely moved, eyes closed most of the day. I took him to the vet who suspects kidney failure and is trying to refer him to a specialist reptile vet. It’s all taking so long and I’m seriously worried if he’ll last another day 😔

    Panther vomited 😬

Sometimes if I want to quickly hydrate him between mistings I’ll spray water onto a leaf near his mouth, and today he has been too fatigued to travel to the dripping leaves, so I sprayed leaves/objects near his mouth, and around his mouth, and he was lapping it up. He has been unusually thirsty...

    Panther vomited 😬

Thanks. His poo this morning looked pretty normal despite being unusually small (seems most of his last meal reappeared in his vomit), but we’ll see what the vet says. I called the breeder I bought him from and he seemed to think he needs to be ‘wormed’, so I guess that’s parasites? My concern...

    Panther vomited 😬

Hey guys, My beloved panther was fine today until I came home to find his eyes closing and opening. I took him out and put him on his branch and he was unusually lethargic, eyes often closing. Then he started gaping and ‘yawning’ and vomited! He was last fed two days ago, 5 locusts, and some...

    Hunger strike!

So, to update, my Panther is still refusing to eat locusts - his staple diet since forever (with occasional crickets which he tolerates but doesn’t much like). So now I’m feeding him huge fruit beetle grubs, giant mealworms and waxmorms. I gather this is a fattier ‘fast food’ type diet, but at...

    Hunger strike!

OK I’ve done that, thanks. I’m on the brink of calling the vet, but the breeder I bought him from thinks it’s a Winter slump 🤔 Could it be this ‘brumination’ I’ve heard about? ChatGPT tells me that a UV-B bulb showing a healthy reading on a Solar Meter still needs changing because the reading...

    Hunger strike!

Thanks for your reply. UVB reading is 4.0 at his closest basking spot, that’s from a SolarMeter. Basking Temp is 78.5° (he always wants to come out and crawl around the 70° apartment) I get feeders from a pet store or order online, pet store order them in and they look ‘legit’ rather than...

    Hunger strike!

My two year old Panther was wolfing down 6 or 7 locusts every other day a few months ago, but this has seriously reduced and in the last 3 weeks he’s lost all interest in eating. I bought some silkworm as I know he finds them irresistible, and he’ll eat one or two, and when he opens his mouth...

Wanting to stare out off window?

Mine loves this too. He used be nervous about being out of his enclosure but now he bolts out whenever I try to feed him, and wants to sit on his room branch and stare out the window. I wondered if he was trying to get more UVB until I learned that glass blocks UV rays 🤷🏻‍♂️ He even wants to...

Cham only eats when someone’s watching

Here’s a photo of his enclosure. I don’t use any kind of feeder cup, I only hand feed, or if I’m away I use this automatic cat food dispenser (loaded with calcium dusted locusts): https://amzn.eu/d/gIRJEQE Thanks

Cham only eats when someone’s watching

I have a webcam in my 6 month old chameleon’s enclosure and I’ve noticed that he’ll stare at a locust for hours, but only goes to eat it when someone enters the room. I was away for nearly a week over Christmas and loaded an automatic cat food dispenser with locusts. He just left them, and only...

Panther poos when I take him out

Gorgeous colours, which island is he from?

Panther poos when I take him out

When I first got him he didn’t poop for 6 days, and he seems to hate dumping in his enclosure, but if he comes out then as soon as he gets a moment to ‘sit’ for a few moments (either on my hand or on an object) he pops one out. Anyone know why? Can he be ‘house trained’ to keep it in the...

Heartbreaking decision to make - young panther with poor tongue aim

Thank for your advice! Is this the A and D3 supplement you’re referring to? Do I dust all of his 5-8 locusts on that fortnightly day with that powder?

Heartbreaking decision to make - young panther with poor tongue aim

Thank you, Beman The breeder told me to feed my cham a daily mixture of: Calcium Bee pollen Except for two days a week when he gets this: Multivitamin (The latter claims ‘this provides at least 100 IU/kg of pro-vitamin A, the water-soluble natural source of vitamin A for animals that...

Heartbreaking decision to make - young panther with poor tongue aim

I’ve had 4.5 month old panther for just over a week and when I hand feed him he nearly always misses the target, and he much prefers getting close up to his prey, extending his tongue a few inches. The seller, a very reputable breeder, has offered to replace him based on my videos. As far as...

New panther went from chilled out to frightened

Hi all, I’m a Cham newbie, I’ve had a panther chameleon for one week, he’s about 4.5 months. He’s remarkably friendly and will crawl onto my hand if baited with food, and usually make his way up to my head. In the first few days I could get right up close to him and take photos/videos no...
