Thanks @Beman, that is a good idea. I am considering just building a new top which may be simpler than cutting the existing and would be an easier transition.
Changing out those vines isn't goign to be easy as they are part of the internal structure of how everything inside is stable. I need to figure out how to do it. The primary challenge with the top is that the four sides are not structrually sound without that top part being conneceted and...
Thought I'd post a quick update on progress an enclosure improvements. Here are some updated pics.
So far:
- UVA/UVB Upgrade to Arcadia T5
- Fans upgraded to larger 100mm units both that pull from the top vents
- Lower planter pulled forward to allow more airflow
- Fogger ports now run to...
I’d be concerned that it would compromise the integrity of the structure, but will look closer at that idea. Thanks again for all the help. New UVB light should arrive next week!
That makes sense. Given the construction of the enclosure I need to keep the top panel intact, but I can likely cut much more out of it to improve the airflow while maintining the integrity of the enclosure. The most realistic way to accomplish this may be cutting out holes with a hole saw...
To clarify, are these LED versions not intended to replace the Arcadia T5 UVB fixtures as proposed to replace what I have now?
That is what I was considering as I only have the single slot for a bar style fixture.
Since I'm ordering a new higher end fixture I'm curious on thoughts related to these Jungle Dawn LED options? I had considered them prior. Curious to get your take? I like the fact they may not need to be replaced like the tubes do and without a solarometer I'm not sure how to know when the...
Noted, I was wondering if the fixture was the correct type. I'm not sure it's viable to increase the size at this stage though as I'd need to recut the top cutout which may not be doable. I will measure and see but I'm concerned it may run into the support corners. Will get the T5 kit either way.
Thanks for the links.
This is a great idea, not sure why I didn't think of it! I will try this and then see if it helps get the mist up.
Thanks again for all the help!!
Thanks so much, going to respond now while I still can today. A few more things but we're getting there! :)
Agree on this, I just figured it couldn't hurt to have the option, but the bacteria I suppose would hurt, so...
This would be extremely challenging to change at this stage and I will...
Okay, I see what you mean now. Those are just small covers for the PVC inlets for the fogger. The vents are hidden below the rocks and behind the planter. I will post some pictures of the enclosure without anything in it along with the husbandry form so everyone can get a better idea of what...
Here's the husbandry form:
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
Veiled Chameleon, Male, ±8 months
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
He does not like to be handled. Have been hoping he’d warm up but...
Many thanks again @ERKleRose, here are responses to your primary points. If I missed anything let me know!
Will fill with leaf litter and plan to remove the water dish, he does seem to be very good at pooping into it. I have seen a lot of people that have used water glasses, which is where I...
Confirmed, the sides and front are glass and the back is alum composite. The top has aluminim screen under the lights and there are 4x air vents on the back, each 14"x6".
It's a cool mist humidifier and it is currently set to run only in the pre-dawn hours. I am generally trying to follow these environmental recommendations from Cham Academy, less the mister at present.
