5 little Pfefferi eggs

Our little round Pfefferi female divested herself of 5 little eggs today. She seems to be doing fine. Two of the eggs were very slightly dented. All are in moist perlite in a cabinet inside a room with temp ranges from 68f at night to 76f during the day.

It looks like incubation is about 2-3 months. We'll hope for the best.

That is awesome. Thos eggs are tiny. Are they speckled or is that dirt? Is it common to lay only 5 eggs? Tell me more.

Although I have never worked with any Cameroon chams, I would think that a 76 degree day temperature would be a little to high and trigger then to hatch to early; resulting in weak neonates. I wouldn't go higher than 73.

Then again, what do I know :p.

It's within the range suggested in published articles Kent emailed me. But the temps within the cabinet don't quite receive the highs or lows that the room receives. I will put a hi/lo thermometer in there tonight and measure temps again to be sure what they are.

The eggs are speckled with dirt. She was quite lumpy and the number of eggs look correct for the size of the Mom. She only weighed 9.6g when fully gravid. I did palpate her belly earlier this evening and felt nothing. Clutch sizes are said to range from 5 to 11.

Thank you every one for your good wishes.

if I remember right, my friend franklin have incubated with success at 19°C at night and 21-22° day.

Wow! First clutch already! Best of luck with them. Did she lay them normally or just drop them? If they were buried how deep did she go? Also, like Adam suggested, my experience with quad, montium, and weider eggs would have me also recommend not letting them go over 73F for any length of time.

Great ! I think the incubation temperatur from Franklin is quite the best for this species, maybe 1°C deeper would be better

Congrats with the eggs!
You mention that your female only weight 9.6 grams. Is she already a adult?
How much weight a normal female(not gravid)?

Congratulations Sandy and Elliott! Wow! more eggs, better get on that Honey Do project and build that addition. :D

Yes, I agree. You can feel free to send me all your chams while you're doing that. :D (wait, that means I will have to build an addition, too.... well, then you can send Elliot out here to build me an addition, too....:D)

The temp did stay at a steady 68f last night. I will bring the eggs into a room in our house where it will be cooler day and night.

She dropped them, which I guess is not unusual in captivity. Don't know about in the wild. She has had an egg laying bin in her cage for a couple weeks but showed no interest in it. There are also plants in her cage with bare soil she could have dug in. Also, when I saw her climbing her walls I placed her in a trash can egg laying bin with vines and plants but she just stood on her hind legs in there and scratched at the walls. So after a day of that I placed her back in her cage for familiar surroundings and better humidity, temp control, etc. and the next day she dropped the eggs a short distance. the eggs look good today and the dents are gone, which I think is a good sign. She was up basking this morning. There is a low wattage bulb projecting slightly over the edge of one corner of her cage. She doesn't bask often, but she does use it occasionally. Especially in the mornings.

Congrats with the eggs!

She is WC so I don't know her age. According to adcham, males can be 10-18g and females slightly smaller. I should weigh her today and get her eggless weight.

Doesn't look like I'm going to get my addition :(. But his plan now is to build an addition for storing more of the contractor stuff and then give me that area leading into the cham rooms. That should be enough. For now...:)

Okay thank you for the answer!
I am just curious about the weight because I have a adult gravid female that weights 16 grams.
So I hope that she will lay of her eggs in a couple of days/weeks...

By any chance do you have a link to what the adults look like? I don't recall seeing such a little cham with that particular name.

i incubated at 19 night and 21-22 day, on vermiculite(1/1 ratio water) but before the hatched, about a month i lowered the humidity without watering the vermiculite. this way i had 8/9 eggs hatching.
