I have a 5 month old ambilobe panther chameleon purchased 2 weeks ago from a reputable dealer he has been fine until now
He eats gut loaded crickets and super worms that are dusted w/o d3 daily and w d3 once twice a week
16" by 16" by 30" screen cage with a 5.0 uvb light and a 60w light for heat
He gets misted 3 times daily with the average range of humidity being 60 to 70% basking temp at 84 and low of his cage at 74degrees F
He is on a 12 hour light cycle
He eats about 10 med crickets a day
He dosnt display any signs of MBD
His feces is brown and urate white
He does not have sunken eyes
The floor is a mat and not substrate
Artificial vines and plants
Problem: earlier today he wouldn't open his eyes when I got home from work he had his eyes somewhat open and had moved he is displaying his light pale colors

D3 twice a week is too much. You should give him D3 twice a month. Are you giving him any other vitamins or minerals? Everything else looks in norm to me. Wait till some1 else reply. Maybe they will see something that I overlooked. I hope he will get well soon. You should go see a vet just to make sure.

I will raise his light up and see if that helps he was up and eating and active but it seems like he is sleeping in the day

I doubt 2 degrees in basking temp will make a difference. Hopefully I'm wrong. He's a cutie. I'm pulling for his fast recovery.

Hmm, my Cham just went through something similar, I rinsed his eyes out and my vet prescribed some antibiotic eye drops. I also have mine vitamins A palminate smeared on a butter worm very sparingly for 3-4 days and he's doing better, his eyes are open and he's eating. I would try a long list to see if he flushes anything out

It turns out his eyes are okay he is hydrated and is eating but he's been sleeping from around 1 in the afternoon to about midnight or so his light cycle is 7 to 7 but I have a red lamp on at night to help with temps not dropping to low any help on this

Please do not use a light of any kind for a heat lamp at night. Chameleons have a third eye (leaving out technical names an info for simplicity). This eye can detect nearly all light. You might think your chameleon can sleep with the red light on, but it will never go in to deep, healing, rejuvenating sleep! Eventually it will become immuno compromised and get sick! I promise! How cool does your house get at night?

You could switch the light out for a ceramic heater if your temps are dropping to much at night. But how much are they dropping? Temps can safely drop into the 50's at night. Temps should drop by 10 degrees at night to aid in metabolism.

My house dosnt drop below 68 and I trust you guys I'm fairly new to this and I come here for every little answer I might have could this be the reason he is sleeping during the day?

You say he is sleeping from 1 in the afternoon until midnight? So he is up all night then? I am confused?!

That is totally bizarre. Chameleons are not nocturnal. They do not sleep in the day. Something is seriously wrong here. Turn off the red light! How do you know he is up all night?

Yes 68 is fine. They can take temps into the 50's and even lower. It might not be ideal to get that cold, but they are not going to die.
