A lot darker than usual?

Hi, I have a 5 month old male veiled chameleon. I've noticed that he's turned a dark green/grey under the basking spot, and I just want to make sure that everything's alright. I know that they usually turn a little bit darker while basking to absorb more heat, but I'm just making sure. First time chameleon mom after all, I'm not sure what's normal and what's not.
The temp under the basking spot is about 83°

He was maybe just a shade darker before I took this, I think the camera spooked him. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

He's perfectly fine :) the only other reason I could think of is that he may be stressed out if you tried to pick her up or getting to close to hI'm but other than that he looks great.

Thank you! I came home to find he shed his skin while I was gone, so maybe it was that. Thanks!
