Hello,

Living in Hong Kong i decided to get a Chameleons a month ago. I went to a reptile shop and the guy told me to take a couple and gave me all the needed equipment (terra, lamp, ...).
They seem now to be a little nervous and stress (dark color, strong zebra partern.) and very active. I think the enclosure is ok (many branch and plant humidity and temp are ok, water by humidifier and pump, and they are in a quiet place.

I suspect that to put two chameleons in one enclosure is not that a good idea.

It is ok to put a male and a femalle together all the time ?
I m looking for any experience by having a couple.

I really want to make them feel ok and i know i have a lot to learn on.
thanks,

Mathieu

I assume others will chime in as well. I don't have any experience with that breed, but after a little research found they are the same as just about every other cham (other than the pigmys), they should be kept separate.

Housing them together will stress them out, as you already see. Sometimes you won't even tell until one of them dies. You need to separate them as soon as possible. The only time they should be together is if you are trying to breed them and I would recommend you do a LOT more research before trying to do that.

How old are they?

How large is your current enclosure?

What kind of plants do you have?

Specifically, what lighting?

How is your misting?

What are you feeding them, and what supplements are you using?

Hello mateo,
"I recently just purchased a 3month female veiled. When you first get a cham they are normally gona be scared or stressed because of new enviroment. It might take a couple weeks for re adjustment to new owner and cage, etc. Im sure that having to chams together is not a good idea. It all depends on age, sex, species, and cage size i have heard. Having a female and male is not a good idea. If or when you decide to mate will depend on age of chams. When that time comes just ask a few people on how to do it. What are you feeding your chams. Size of feeders. Take a few pics of cage and chams and post. That will give everyone a better idea on what might be wrong. Also note the Temperatures and humidity%. I also need to know age of your chams. If this is any help to you thats great. Please list some pics i am interested to see them. Thank you Chris.
p.s. if this does help click on green box next to my name plz and thank you.

Hi everyoone and thank for your reply,

The two fisheri i just got are two and three monthes old. They are bradypodion_fischeri, one male and one female.

the enclosure is 60cm*45cm*34cm (PT600 form Resun)

I have two lamps, one is UV and the other is a 40W heating one from ZooMed.

concerning the plants i don t know the name but it is a kind of Ficus and i bring them to the reptile shop and they told me it is oK. The male eats some of the leafs..seems he likes it.

I use a pressure sprayer two or three times a day and i have a hidden fogger in the enclosure. The two Chams drink properly directly on the branches.

They eat small crickets and some worms, i dust them once a week with reptivite from zoomed.

The guy who sold me is a pro in reptile and i was confident. I did not want to buy from a non specialized shop. CHeck the website out http://www.urbanjungle.com.hk/

The two chams were together with many others in the shop enclosure. But i really have to figure out and buy another place to make them separate.
They are not agressive against eachother but often walk one on the other...

One more point is that when i come to see them , they come and try to grab the Glass door or come to the enclosure ground and try to dig (apparently).
I do not try to take them out of the enclosure, and i m as quiet as possible.

Thank you for your help,
i know i have to fix the situation asap.

Mathieu
