a question for the parsonii owners

I have been on these forums for about 4 years. I have yet to learn why Parsons chameleons are so expensive because I have seen a lot of them on here. I really would like a complete care sheet. I have seen chuck's posts and I noticed he always questions a buyers ability to keep this species. How are they different? Not planning on owning any for a few years atleast but dying to know what makes them so special. I would also like to clearify I mean no offense to any keepers I just don't know why they are considered the hardest species

I don't own one so I won't give any care info but they aren't considered the hardest, just very coveted for their look, longevity, and size. That, and no individuals are supposed to be coming from Madagascar so there is only a small legal supply source for them. So, supply and demand!

They are that expensive because they are worth it. They have got the grandeur and attributes that no other chameleon species I have kept has. When I have seen people pay less for them they end up not receiving the husbandry they require and in inexperienced keepers hands they eventually waste away through multiple Parsonii fast. However when the price is raised to a higher price Parsonii receive the care they require to live longer lives in captivity. That alone is a important reason to keep Parsonii prices high and should be applied to other species too (has).

If your looking for Parsonii information there is information out there you just have got to research a bit. Here's a couple of sources to start you off.

It's because people want what they can't have. The only parsons I every saw in person was in 1995 at a pet shop for $150. It sat there for several months. Parsons are an amazing species but all chameleon species are amazing. I personally am trying to enjoy the species that are still being imported and not take them for granted.
