Adjusting Mister

Hi, I have a herpmist and I need to find out how to adjust it so instead of it spraying a fine mist I get bigger water droplets?

Kinda like the mist that comes out of the hand pressure sprayers but smaller.

hmmm.. dat's what I'm afraid of.. I just spent 200 buckaroos on it.

Whenever it turns on my veileds go to a spot where they can't get hit with the water.. Dang, smart chams :D

and so their poops have more yellows in it now..

Do you use a heater with your mister?

$200...I just spent $300:( on a herpmist and it should be coming sometime next week. Would I need to use a heater? The things I do for my chams:rolleyes:

Brian

Hahaha.. and I thought I spent a lot!! yahahahahaha.. j/k

Yeah, I'm thinking maybe they're running from the water because they were used to it being warm when I was manually misting them.

I have a Hydor inline heater but I have to connect it on my days off. I runs outside the reservoir.

It takes me a while to do these things cuz I don't know what the heck I'm doing. I have to micky mouse it or something..

Yeah...Im afraid of that also because I always heat up the water before I mist them. The last few days I've been misting them with room temp water and most of them dont mind, besides the babies. They go crazy...they start running on top of each other and fall from there branch:eek: I heard someone on the forum say they had to put a pump in the reservoir...because if its heated and the water is not moving it will be a breeding goung for bacteria. I would like to hear other people's opinions.

Brian

Yup, I heard that one too.

That's why I bought one that doesn't need to go inside the reservoir.

It sits outside just like the pump.

my chams avoided the mister for 12 weeks then just started to use it when they wanted (no heater in use)

Sean

Geesh! 12 weeks :(

I'd rather not use the heater too but my chams are getting dehydrated even with a dripper.

My female veiled who I've never seen a yellow tinge in her poop has one now.

I thought they'd like the cooler water since it's sooooo hot over here.. Like 104F.

You can do a misting system for under 60 if you have access to a laundry tub faucet that has a threaded faucet. Toro misting nozzles...1/4 inch tubing....lawn sprinkler timer.

LOL.. I think that's a great idea but the only faucet here is the kitchen sink cuz I live in an apt..

I wish though.. :(

I think Im going to try the mister without the heater first...if they dont like it or start getting dehyrdated, I'll go ahead and get it.

Brian

Yeah, I think that's a good idea. If you don't have to use it, I wouldnt buy it either. See if it works without the heater first. You don't wanna spend $60 plus for something you can do without. I would also just monitor how they're doing first.

Howdy Mika,

If you bring your heater to the next meeting, I'll bring my fancy 1/4 pipe tap and put internal threads in the ends of your Hydor heater so that you can spin-in a couple of Quick-Connect fittings from Home Depot just like mine :). It's slick. If you bring a snack for the group I'll also give you a cream colored nozzle (assuming that you have the red nozzle) that makes bigger droplets. Also, don't forget to reduce the pressure by adjusting the tiny hex screw about 3 turns CCW. Are you misting for 10-20 minutes? The heater may make all the difference in not chasing away your chameleon. Nothing but white urates here . If you can't wait until Tuesday night and have a full tank of gas, you are welcome to drive to sunny but cooler Manhattan Beach tomorrow and we can fix-up everything right away :D.

I don't know what you just said but it sounds good..LOL..

I'll definitely go to the meeting and bring it since I'm off that day and I've already made arrangements with my mom. I'll be droppin em off at the south bay galleria. Yipee! :D Julia told me you have your hydor connected differently.

Also I tried putting the 4+ hornworms in the soil and they did bury themselves but in the morning they all came out and started "wandering".. going round and round on the floor of the cage so I had to take em out before my cham could eat em.. I was hoping I could give the pupa to Nicole.. I guess not :(

Oh and I'll bring some snacks :D

PS

Yup, I mist 2 30 mins and 4 for 15 mins (I think it was 4) cuz it's been so hot here. Reaching like 104F today.

What kind of snack should I bring?

Warm Krispy Kremes for a sugar rush..

Ok, I'll bring something like that :D

See ya at the meeting!
