we have had cleo for 9 months now and in the last 4 days she will not eat anything , we have tried crickets, kingworms , beetles , flys. and moths.
we thought that maybe she is going to lay eggs, but the weight is just comming off her fast. we also thought she might be to cold so we got her a bigger bulb to heat the enclosure up even higher. her ambient temp is 83 and under the bulb in her basking spot is 97. the humidity is hovering around 60%. we have 4 vets here and 2 told me to try the internet and the others have little to no experience with reptiles.i am also sending some pics .
any advise would be greatly appreiciated.
thanks

Has she had a place in her cage to dig to show you that she needs to lay eggs? She looks quite gravid to me.
Has she been sitting low in the cage? Roaming the cage? Drinking more than usual? Was she mated?
How long has she been showing the mustard dots?
Does she ever go black in the background color?

cleo

she has been going down to the bottom and sitting on the dish to catch the water from the drip system. she ha a sand pit in the cage but doesnt seem to go to it.
she has been sitting about half way in the cage, and was roaming around but in the last day she has been pretty melow just going up when she is cold.
the spots are only yellow because of the flash the are darker green in colour. sorry about that.as for water i havent seen her drink today so i misted her to get some on her head , she usually goes to the drip system.
i will include a pic of her cage.
thanks glen
i will fill out that form also.

Hopefully she isn't quite ready to lay yet....but if she shows any signs of going downhill (lethargy, sitting with her eyes closed during the day, sitting low in the cage, etc.) you may have to take her to a vet. I would give her as much privacy as possible right now....don't let her see you watching her.

You said..."the spots are only yellow because of the flash the are darker green in colour"...I was talking about the brownish splotches on her...it has nothing to do with the flash...its the marks veiled females get when they are sexually mature. Knowing when she developed them could help figure out when she might lay the eggs.

cleos info

female veiled 13 months old had her 8 months now
only held when she gets out. if her door is open to long shes out.
we feed her large crickets 8-10 a day ,4 crickets and 5 kingworms once a week flys and kingworm and mealworm beeltes once in a while.
she has rep-cal calcium hposphorus free plus vitd3 3 times a week. and rep-cal herptivite twice a week.
she uses a drip system for water with beeing misted 2 times a day for about 3 min each time and ive seen her drink.
no poop latley but it is usually dark brown with a white bit at the beginning.
cage as in pic it is the biggest one 48x36x36
i use exo terra lights a 75 watt tight beam basking and a repti glo 2.0
temp is 83-85 ambient with 95 under the basking light
humidity is 60% going down to around 50% between mistings
plants are all artificial.
the cage is located in the middle of the livingroom in a low traffic area free from drafts etc.
the top of the cage is about 61/2 feet off the floor.
we are located on vancouver island b.c.

Hi there, There are a few things that may be improved on. She might be over supplemented. Too much D3 can cause problems with chams because they are very sensitive to over supplementation. This is a good link to check out https://www.chameleonforums.com/supplementation-mbd-1-a-2451/You should be giving your cham Three types of powdered supplements.
1) Phosphorous Free Calcium without D3, Use Daily
2) Phosphorous Free Calcium with D3, Use twice a month
3) Vitamin supplement, Use Twice a month.

Your temps are too high. you want your ambient temp to be in the 70's. The basking spot should be between 80-85. Night time temps 65 to low 70's.

Also you should upgrade to a 5.0 UVB bulb. 2.0 isn't strong enough to provide the UVB needed to produce D3 which helps to synthesize calcium.

And definitely provide a laying box that has at least 12" of sand or other substrate suitable for laying.
Hope this helps. If she continues to fast you might have to take her to the vets.

Agreed. Too shallow of a laying dish is the first thing i thought with the photo of the cage. I have a feeling she needs to lay eggs. I know your believing she is ill may be making you give her extra attention to assess whats really going on with her. But I believe you should put a nice, deep laying dish in her cage, get the temps a tad lower, leave a food items in there, put on a slow dripper and leave her alone for a day then see what happens and how she is acting the next day. And if it seems the exact same, I would go seek a vet. : /
