Afraid of worms?

Ivan, a 5 inch flap neck chameleon seems to be afraid of superworms and mealworms. I tried offering some and he puffed up and turned colors. His last owner only fed him crickets. I'm trying to find a local source for other insects, but at the moment only have access to crickets, mealworms and superworms. Is this a normal reaction? Anyway to get him to try new foods?

Are you hand feeding or letting them loose in his house? I hand feed almost all of my feeders and just offered supers to my 14week old veiled this week he wasn't quite sure at first so I placed on the screen and let it crawl and he then went after it now he nabs them at first glance. Good luck

A full size super worm may be too large, and is intimidating him.

Hanging worms on the screen, lower than the cham so they climb up to him may also help.
