Hi all, I was wondering if I a just being a worry wart but I have had a veiled now for a week he is 4 months old. he is in a screen cage with a mixture of pothos and fake plants he has lots of covereage and walkways to move around on. his basking temp is between 79 and 82 for 12 hours a day. his color is bright and he is eatting well crickets and pothos. I mist inside min 3 times a day and he has drank from the pothos leaves.....so everything seems good except when I go near the cage doors he will come running (as fast as the bugger can) down to the door and try to get out. ( althought I would love to believe he is just that happy to see I know this is not the case) he (ozzy is his name) will come out onto my hand no problem and crawl fast up my arm and try to get ontop of my head. Cage right now is about three feet high three feet wide although I have a large custom cage being built that will be much larger....could it be the cage is too small? or does anyone have any other ideas as to whats up or am I just being a worry wart?

thanks all

My male did that when he was young. He is now very happy staying in his cage and watching out the window.

You may be lucky enough to have a non-aggressive chameleon that wants to come out. I have one-he is definitely strange and very different from all of my other chams, he is now 2 years old but his 6 month old son is the same way. Just make sure your temps are good (digital thermometer or temp gun) and that is cage is high enough off the ground.

I dont know if this is correct, but dont chameleons like to be above eye level? Could this be all that the chameleon is trying to do? Get above eye level...

Thats what brad told me. They need to be at least eye level. If I take Leo out, he will go to the top of my head as thats the highest point.. otherwise he is in the corner at the highest point in his cage which is a foot above me. Try raising the cage up to at least your eye level and see if that changes the behavior.

:d

I'd just call you lucky? =D I wish my Chams ran to see me....

My cage is about three feet high and on a stand so they can go above or below eye level and they often go below.... maybe if you gave them a choice, it wouldn't stress him out? If he is stressed that is.

well I guess I am not so special after all.....lol
Ozzy hissed at me yesterday when I went in his cage to feed him.
not sure if I startled him but I guess it par for the coarse.
I am hoping his new cage will make him more content.
