Ambanja eye problems.

My apologies for this being my first post but this issue just recently happened and it has me really worried...

Your Chameleon - Ambanja, male, approximately nine to eleven months having been in my care for nearly six months.
Handling - Only when necessary, he has always seemed to prefer solitude.
Feeding - Crickets and super worms. I normally drop in about six or seven in the morning followed by one or two worms every night. The crickets are fed Fluckers orange diet cubes.
Supplements - Every other meal I dust the insect(s) with Sticky Tongue Farm's red top(outdoor), and then once every week I dust them with S.T.F's yellow top(indoor) as well as Reptivite's reptile vitamins without D3.
Watering - I mist the cage and him gently for about a minute or two(he flinches and generally doesn't like being misted) twice a day, once the morning after he has warmed up and about a half hour before I hit the lights. Otherwise I leave on a humidifier from lights on till off which I see him drinking more from than when I mist.
Fecal Description - I'm unsure if he's been tested, and it's wet, dark with white urate.
History - Nope.

Cage Info:

Cage Type - It's a screen cage, 16x16x20.
Lighting - ReptiSun 5.0 UVB Bulb with a reptile 50 Watt basking spot bulb in a dome fixture for his basking spot. Lights on at about dawn so around seven or eight, and turned off at about ten or eleven
Temperature - From the low sixties to high seventies ranging from top to bottom and it's always in the eighties in his basking spot. At night the cage normally is around the low seventies, high sixties sometimes. Thermometer.
Humidity - sixty-five to eighty-five percent. Humidifier, and by a humidity gauge near the back of his cage.
Plants - Yes, one ficus.
Placement - On top a bookcase, the nearest fan is the ceiling fan. And it's about a five to six foot difference from the top of the cage to room floor.
Location - Austin, Texas.

Current Problem - As of yesterday he stopped opening his left eye, it's slightly sunken in and sometimes the lower part of his eye will jut outwards for a split second. He eats normally, and his behavior has seemed normal too but I'm going to take him to the nearest vet today. I was just looking for some insight from you guys first, here's what his eye looks like as of now.

Where his eyes seems to be sagging is where it'll swell at... Any thoughts as to why this is happening?

I would try and give him a nice warm shower, stick a plant in there and turn the shower on and if it has a misting setting than you don't have to point the shower head at the wall. Boost humidity too. If not a vet check-up might work.

Something is going on!! This is the 3rd thread i have seen with this EXACT discription this week!! And i too am also dealing with the same issue. I gave 4 showers already and didn't work. Vet will be the next option.

I am having the same problem with my nosey be. I put up a post on here a couple days ago but got no response. I ended up getting the money together to go to get him to a herp vet. The vet said that it was most likely vitamin deficiency. He told me that most of the powder vitamin supplements go bad after 6 months even though the expiration says they last much longer. He gave my chameleon 2 shots, one of vitamin a and d and a multivitamin. I also went out and bought new vitamin, mineral, and calcium supplements. My chameleon is looking a lot better already. Yesterday He slept most of the day and it has been about 4 hours since he has gotten back from the vet and he is moving around his cage more and he ate for the first time in 2 days. He still is closing one of his eyes when he is sitting still but not nearly as much as before and he is staying awake. Hopefully the problem will go away soon.

Hey I'm not sure if your chameleon is still having this same problem but I found out the reason that my chameleon was having eye problems was because I was using the reptisun 5.0 compact bulb when I was supposed to be using the reptisun 5.0 tube. I ended up turning his uv light off for a day and the next day he was using both of his eyes. I'm not sure if you are using this bulb or not but I figured I would let you know in case.
