Ambient Temps

Hello again everyone! So recently I've been monitoring Gatsby's (5 month old panther) ambient temperatures. They're hitting a constant 78-80. I have a herpstat and have his basking branch set at 81 (I tried 82 but thought maybe dropping it would help ambient). Any idea how to get it to drop down some more? It is very shady down there and is blocked by my photos, Hawaiian TI, and some fake vines.

Is all that heat coming from the same basking bulb?

Generally, I would think ventilation would take care of lowering the temps further away from the bulb.

One thing you might try (if you haven't already) is using a lower output (wattage) bulb, but adjusting the basking area closer to it (or vv) to maintain desired basking temp.
