Ambilobe or Ambanja?

Hi all....

First time Cham owner here.:)
I recently purchased a nice Panther at the NY reptile show, but the vendor did not know about the details on this last one remaining.
I got a pretty decent deal, but it was labeled as a "Black Panther" & was said to be approximately 4 months old. He is a male.
Can anyone assist in ID'ing?

He is doing great & has a sweet personality!
He is also just starting to shed on the head & tail.

Thanks in advance.

He does change colors frequently:

"Black Panther" hmmm...that is interesting. Either way it looks like a perfect blue bar, yellow body Ambilobe. Can't wait to see him mature, he may turn orange and red!

He looks like an Ambilobe for sure. Considering the odd label, "Black Panther", and the fact that you got him at a show, he looks great and very healthy. Nice purchase.

hah i was actually going to buy him! I decided not to though obviously. He is without a doubt an Ambilobe... or a cross that would fool a ton of people! ;)

I would bet my life savings on him being an Ambilobe. He looks almost like my recently departed Ambilobe, George. Although the colours to me suggest he may be older than 4 months, id say more like 5-6. Hes beautiful!!

Thanks all!:D
Ambilobe it is.

Wow tkilgour! orange and red? That would be great.

That's funny ColorCham427.
You saw him in that little container?:( He was all "black" because he was all stressed out!

Here's another current pic.
It's amazing the way he runs to the front of the cage when I approach it.
He speeds over to my hand.

Getting light in color is a good thing....right?
When out, he occasionally turns bright like in the first pic I posted.
More so when he's hanging out on his schefflera tree that's right next to his cage.

Ive always been under the impression that their lighter colour or more brighter colours are when they are displaying, either to a female or to ward off other males. I call it their angry colours. he should remain green like the last pic you posted. Unless he is stressed out of course.

He could also change from darker colors to lighter background colors to regulate his body temp. Its not always a sign of stress its also a way to thermoregulate their body temps.;)

definetly an ambilobe, ambilobes have bright red, or blue stripes. and shades of yellow, green and red.

ambanjas are more dark red and blue, and some teal green colors.

Thanks again guys.:)

My dummy move......I didn't get the name of the vendor as I purchased it at the ending of the show & was running around trying to find an ATM. The one that was on site was out of cash.
If anyone was at the show that day, it was the vendor with that gimormous turtle in a 20 gallon tank. Right next to Glass Cages display.

Friendliest lizard ever..remember when i said it looked DULL lol..foot in my mouth right now..i couldnt believe how much he wanted to interact this weekend...thanks for the DUBIAS :D
