Hey guys, up until now, I've worked pretty much with veileds, but I'm looking into getting a male panther. I was wondering what the differences were between Ambilobe and Ambanja.

Thanks!

Its there locality to madagascar... madagascarfs sectiond off with different names. There really isn't much of a color difference between the to. Like an island of madagascarfs named nosey bee...that's where the solid blue nosey bee panthers live. Each section has there own color show were each type of panther is located. Nosey bee is cooler...that's why nosey bee panthers take on the solid blue color. ( that info provided from another forum member)

There really from what I know not to much of a difference other then where there from in Madagascar. Color maybe I would say but very slight differences if any. Sorry I can't be more help.

There are also physical differences as well, though they are hard to see by the inexperienced eye. I don't even know all of them yet, but I do know that the rostral process (the small crests on the snout) on the males is Usually larger or more pronounced in ambanjas. Some look like they have small horns! Ambanjas usually have a duller/less vibrant background with brighter bars. However people have been breeding them to get brighter colors all around and some have even been imported with vibrant backgrounds and equally vibrant bars. Personally I like the duller more layed back background with brighter bars look, especially when the background color is mostly powder blue or a pale yellow color.

EDIT: a yellow cheek is also sort of a 'trademark' of the ambanja, but not all of them have it and some other locales often have it.
