An Update on my Bioactive Build

And to anyone curious about my misting setup, it's a combo. I have a seconds timer and a hygrostat-thermometer. So the seconds timer provides power to the hygrostat-thermometer controller which is set to attempt to maintain a 75% humidity during the day and 99% during the night with a 7% variance. The timer is setup to turn the system on just before the hygrostat-thermometer considers it daytime to do a heavy mist before lights on to simulate a morning dew/fog. The rest of the day it is set to go off on regular intervals but only if the humidity drops past a certain point. And the system turns off for the day with enough time to dry out the enclosure.

And this is the drainage water that comes out. Honestly looks like compost tea. I realize I have springtails in it. And I also have baby red wrigglers in it,however I'm not worried about this as it helps control the population of my CUC and because I use the drainage water on my garden, the excess CUC is utilized for the benefit of my garden.

In all honesty, when designing my bioactive build, I tried to replicate the natural conditions but also add in components from a good composter setup that tears through compostable material, so far it seems to be working really well and it still smells like a temperate rainforest when I open it up.

So after talking to the builder of the enclosure I have, if anyone is interested in acquiring one themselves, contact Cornel's World Terrariums and mention my name.

Well, Chandler has a sleeping spot, seems to hover around 70% humidity at night but gets proper airflow and does drop overnight. It's also halfway through the enclosure. He could choose higher up for less humidity or lower down for more but apparently he likes 70%. In the time it took me to write and edit the post it dropped to 67%.When I get the money I plan on investing in a way to monitor the humidity consistently over a 24 hour period.
