Hey yall, this is my first time posting something so please excuse my mistakes. I have a veiled chameleon named Glaz named after a Rainbow Six Siege operator and he is pretty cool. I am struggling very hard though for him to get used to me. The only time he hasn’t hissed or bit me was since the first day I got him and it has been around 3 months already. I had a previous chameleon who was the same named kapkan again named after a R6 operator but he became very friendly after a while, sadly he did die from metabolic disease (I knew he was sick when I got him but wanted to help him). I have tried so many methods like keeping my hand nearby and still for him to climb or approach me himself, hand feeding, and etc. Are there any tips in getting him to at least like me.

Hi and welcome. :) Here’s a great blog on building trust. https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/building-trust-with-your-chameleon.2396/ I will tell you though, that probably the majority of veileds aren’t terribly friendly no matter what we do. We just have to accept them on their terms and not force anything. My lady veiled, who I’ve had for going on 6 years knows that I can be trusted, but still will hiss and try to bite me all of the time (right after realizing my fingers aren’t food). My male veiled was wild caught as an adult and I respect his desire to be left alone. Sometimes he won’t even do a modified hand feeding from a small cup that I hold out to him.
On a different note, if you’d like to have your husbandry checked to help keep your guy as healthy and happy as possible, just ask.
