Hello everyone I have been wanting a panther for sometime now and 2 weeks ago I was able to pick up a baby. I was told it was a Blue Bar but no clue on the sex. I think female, the Mrs thinks male. What do you guys think on sex and age?

If that it helps for age, when I got home today it was having the first shed he has had since we got him. I am getting more excited that it could be male because he is showing some great color underneath.

I agree with Jim, I thought that females have a straighter tail and at this age they are too young to have a hemipenal bulge. Baby male panthers have a "divit" after the vent where the hemipene will be as they mature.

I hope it ends up being a male. If it is one, it will have its juvenile moments where, if you catch it at the right time, the colors will confirm such. Until then, or until there is some other confirming characteristic, I would caution patience if you were considering buying a mate.

Keep us posted with pics as you are able, even if a month or so apart. It is good feedback for all of us who are rendering opinions. Thanks.

Just an update since it has been another couple of weeks and we have had a shedding. Starting to show lots of orange and teal. Still hoping its a boy still not 100%.

I still think it leans more towards being a girl. I see no appreciable bulge aft of the cloaca, there is no appreciable snout developing, and the color and pattern lean female.

He/she has to grow a bit more before pictures will be definitive.

I would take Jim's opinion over mine any day of the week. Jim, I assume you are talking about the fourth picture for pattern and colors correct? The tail base has a slight color change.

I still have really high hopes of him being a male for you.

Thanks for the help guys, I will keep posting every couple weeks to keep everyone updated on his/hers growth. I keep hoping to wake up one morning and see a neon crazy stripped huge snout beast in the cage.

Well, thank you. But it is still not definitive from the photos. In the flesh, I believe that I could be 95% certain or more, but with pics ... meh.

The owner bumped it, but the bump, and these pics, were not going to result in a definitive answer yet. Not from these pics. But I do lean much more towards female right now.

And 'yes", the third pic does not indicate male to me. I see nothing of consequence aft of the cloaca.
