i am going to have my cham's cage next to a window and therefore curious about the heating situation. any thoughts or precautions? im going to test the temperature over the next month and also need info for vitamins and anything else this might affect.
thanks again

Well, if it's next to a window, then it becomes even harder to manage the effect of direct sunlight on the ambient and spot temperatures. A cham in a confined cage in the direct sunlight coming in from a window could quite easily overheat.
If you do plan to do this, you must make sure that there are adequate shaded places for the cham to escape out of the heat to.
Also, your cham will more than likely respond more favourably to the brighter sunlight than his basking spot light, which may keep him away from the basking spot, and could in some cases lead to him not getting enough exposure to the right basking temps.
In my opinion, it's far easier to manage the temps and environment within a cage if you keep it out of direct light.

The only time you would expose a cham to direct light is if it could gain the benefit of natural, unfiltered UVB radiation. But UVB light is blocked by glass and plastic, so unless the window you are planning to place him in front of is an open window, he will not be gaining any of the benefit of natural UVB, and you will still need to use an overhead UVB tube lamp.
So as far as supplementation is concerned, a closed glass window won't affect it. You will still need to provide supplemental vit D3, just as if your cham were kept in a shaded area indoors.
