Another Silkworm question

My silks are about the size I want them and they grow really fast....If I remove their food, how long will they last before they die? Point being I want them to stay the same size for as long as possible.

That is one thing that I really like about them worms! You can control the growth of them! I have read that they can go a day or two without much feed; however when I want them to grow slow I feed them a very little amount… just enough for a little meal…

Ya they seem to grow very unevenly too. I got about a 100 1/2 inch ones about a week ago. About 10% of those are now getting over an inch and some are still the same size....

Yeh I agree, Vegas Chad...

Silkworms will last awhile without a feed and that does inhibit their growth, it is a good way to control your feeders..like Chad says, "give them small feeds"...
Remember though, silkies can be a bit larger than your usual feeders as they do have soft bodies and can be gulped up relatively easy...
If you don't manage to feed all your silkies before they grow, try breeding them yourself, there's an unreal link just posted the other day that has all the info you need...
Cheers
Scott.
