Ant Infestion

So I woke up yesterday to find my cage with my ~3 month old veiled infested with ants. There was a living ficus in the cage, which they seemed to be tunneling in the soil. I can't think of why they'd be interested in the soil but who knows. Anyone have any suggestions on how to keep them out? The cage is inside and this has never happened before. I want to put the ficus back in the cage but I'm afraid of the ants returning.

Any ideas would be great.

The ants are most likely going after the water. If your enclosure has legs, place them in containers of water to keep the ants from being able to enter.

how large are the ants? you may need to uproot your ficus and wash it also if that doesnt work you may need to do a complete break down of the cage. ants can be tricky to get rid of but if you keep cleaning you should be able to get rid of them.

the ants are going for the dirt because its a home next to a food source, the food source being undigested chameleon poo and dead crickets, remove the plants and get a new one, leave that one outside and the ants will leave it in a week or so
