I'l be in Buffalo this weekend and wanted to get a panther chameleon. Any suggestions of breeders or reptile stores that sell them?
Thanks

Okay that makes more sense. I was wondering why someone was looking to buy a buffalo off a chameleon website lolo_O:)

You can't drive back across the border with a chameleon without CITES import and export permits. If you get caught, customs will confiscate your animal. CITES permits are very expensive. You should definitely find a breeder in Canada.

She is got a point, chameleon is not like a buffalo wings u can bring them everywhere, but There is a awesome bronx zoo if u ever visit in new york ,empire building n coney island hot dogs u will never get that in Toronto, enjoy ur trip:).

I've done some research about bringing chaneleons over, and you don't need any paper work as long as your driving across the border. All lizards are okay to cross over. Turtles And birds need paper work. That's bringing them into Canada.

As long u know what u doing by doing ur research correctly, then go for it,Personally I never done that before Im jus as curious as everyone else, maybe the law change, maybe not,as far I know they should be lots great breeder near Toronto right??

I must say she is correct on this subject, unless u have some more documents would like to share with everyone.

That's not quite correct. Since Panther Chameleons are Appendix II listed by CITES, import/export permits are needed for Canada. Double check the info below. Canada is very specific that CITES animals cannot be imported without paperwork.

Not disagreeing or arguing with you but, those links say 2 different things to me. Link 2 says he needs permits, link 3 says he doesn't, or that he doesnt need any import papers? However he does need Export ones ? (as per link 2)

It is consistent about needing an export permit from the exporting country, but I agree, it was a bit inconsistent about an import permit.

Good luck getting an export permit from the US in anything less than 90 days, sheesh, and I'm sure they are expensive.

One of our many Canadian members can probably clarify.

Ya I am sure its pricey and takes awhile. If people could just get chameleons from the US then cad prices would not be so high and US companies would just ship there.

I dont know the panther pricing over there but I seen a jacksons breeder over there the other day asking $250 for baby Jacksons. Which is a whole lot more than here.

I guess we will find out this weekend. I will let you guys how it goes. And yeah guys in the states have it good, a lot of reptiles in Canada are over priced. Tokay geckos go for at least $40, frilled dragons go for $400.

Wait what are we going to find out? If you can get away with it lol.

Good luck - let us know how it goes. I'm not ragging on you at all - I would just hate to have you spend a lot of money on a chameleon and get into a situation at the border. Not good for you or your new cham :( It can be hard deciphering all the regulations. After flying back and forth to Canada for work for years, I get complacent about it being an international crossing. Then customs does something crazy like confiscate my artisanal saskatoon berry jam

We do have a lot of Canadian members, too, so if it ends up that you are still looking for a chameleon after your trip, someone here might have a good contact for you.
