Any "no brainer/duh!!" tips

Hi just went through my vieled Rango eating rocks. Luckily he is good and everything went good. My vet stated that it was unusual for them to eat rocks and said she never woulda told owners to watch out them eating rocks. So im just looking for any other tips that other owners have gone through so I can be more prepared for odd stuff!! LMAO!!!!! but hes so great and funny!

what kind of rocks do you have in there? is it like rocks lining the bottom of cage? Thats a big no no. Just regulate the temps and make sure to supplement! the best way to prep for odd stuff is to prevent it period!

Hi! I saw that thread so I understand you are asking for other "obvious to those who've been around, but not at all obvious to newbies" things.

Substrate is more trouble than it's worth. It's pretty, but it can be dangerous.

Drainage is your friend. Figure out a way to put your cage over a container and let water drain into it (drill holes in the bottom of the cage).

Chameleons are harmed by light at night, if you need additional heat, add a non-light emitting bulb or heat element.

They really do not want to be handled or played with in any way...some will tolerate it, but if yours puts up a fight, let it stay in its enclosure.

Those are my "duh"s.

i would not have any rocks or dirt or anything substrate in the bottom of the cage.! im glad he is good!

I will add that it is much cheaper and easier to keep a chameleon healthy, than it is to heal a sick chameleon...
