Aplication of Terramycin

I just received a tube of Terramycin in the mail today for a minor eye problem on my cham. I was wondering exactly how I am supposed to apply it to her eye? Do I just lightly apply the cream to the outside of her eye or what?

Thanks!

I always put a decent size glob on a very lint free Q-tip and just dab it on the eye until there is a glob-and the chams opening and closing the eye seems to get it where it needs to be.

should I glob it on right where her eye lids meet when her eye is closed? will it soak in, or will it stay as a glob on her eye?

i see that you ordered it! hope it works.. Just put a good amount.. not too much.. Apply 3-4 times a day. Just keep applying.. Use cotton swap.. I would even apply before s/he goes to sleep.

So i have been giving them the ointment on there eye and he seems to be bulging his eye out and rubbing it on a branch. Is that normal?

how many days has it been since you used the oil? Are you applying a lot? I would assume they are a lil uncomfortable with the oil. I applyed over the entire eye, small layer. Use it like your applying lotion to your skin.

I did one application yesterday evening, and another one this morning. I was told to apply it 3-4x a day. I am putting a small amount on a q-tip and applying it to the entire eye. Sound about right?

Same here once a day, I apply it before bed time too. It seems to bother there eye more in the day.

I applied at least 3 times a day if I could. Once in morning time. few hours later my mist will go on. Then an hour after mist I applied again. Go to work... Come back home and apply before she went to sleep.

Terramycin calls for an application a few times a day, but it really depends on the extent of the infection. Be careful not to put to much on their eye becuase i noticed it can irritate them more. Less is more with this stuff imo. The terramycin can dry and create a dry "film" over their eye and that could be why you boy is rubbing his eye more, because he feels this goop clogged in his eye.

We used to use Terramycin for our chams eye problems. But once we started using Reptaid, we very rarely use the ointment in the eye anymore. The reptaid works like a miracle on infections for chameleons. Maybe just one dose a day for 2-3 days and the eye problem is all gone. If one of our chams just seems to have a problem with an eye, we give them Reptaid. Sometimes they just keep an eye closed all day. Although we don't always know what the problem is, the behavior is not normal so we conclude that there must be a problem with the eye. Reptaid really helps clear it all up, and restore them to normal behavior and health.

How many times can we say Reptaid in one post??;):D

I have an issue with my Panther's eye. The skin is puffy, is the Terramycin something I should be using?

He sees just fine, but the skin is all funky...

I am no expert, and I am sure others can give better advice than me...but Ill give a stab at it.... The puffiness to me looks like edema which is fluid under the tissue, my guess would be that its from inflammation immune response to a bacteria infection. That being said, I have been told terramycin is a great wonder cure for a lot of minor eye infections. Since your cham still keeps his eyes open and isnt showing any distress than I would say that if it is a infection, its definitely minor. I think terramycin would be a good thing to use.

So....anyone who actually knows what there talkin about think I am on the right track? haha

haha ya... it always seems like something huh? Mine are doing OK, there really hasnt been any improvement, but they have gotten worse either. I have been applying the terramycin 2-3X a day. Hopefully I will see some results soon.

What do you think about summoner12 panther?
