Archaius,
The Journal of Chameleonology and Chameleonoculture
www.archaius.eu
It is a great joy and a privilege to introduce to you and the global public a journal, dedicated only to topics related to the old world chameleons.
The ambition of this periodical is to set a wide platform for scientists, researchers, naturalists, keepers, breeders, and all the people around the globe, interested in chameleons: the most fantastic and mystical reptiles on the planet Earth.
Scientists can publish here bigger or even quite small papers on the chameleon taxonomy, biology, observations in the wild etc.
The breeders and keepers can share their valuable experience, collected by the observation of chameleons in captivity.
And all other people interested in any aspect of the chameleon existence such as history, art, design, veterinary science etc. can share their views. The readers from whatever entity will find peer-reviewed facts, interesting observations and inspiration. This is why the journal is divided into three sections:
CHAMELEONOLOGY - marked with blue: for original scientific papers,
CHAMELEONOCULTURE - marked with red: for original papers on the aspects of keeping chameleons in captivity,
CHAMELEONOPROMOTION - marked with green: for free style communications on any aspects of chameleon existence not covered by the previous two sections.
Why we have decided to found a journal. We live in the world when the widest community of the chameleon specialists and lovers are communicating and sharing over Internet, specifically at the blogs, forums and over many specialized Facebook groups. The wealth of knowledge that is sometimes shared, gets forgotten and lost one week or even less after it is posted just because the media managing communities are not made to serve as a permanent data management and knowledge management resource. For this we have a journal, registered with the ISSN number, that will forever store the original information as it was published for the reference of anyone that needs it now and any time in the future.
This journal is for everyone. We would like to introduce even a unique feature, an aid for new authors. In many situations, information gets lost just because people that have collected it, have no courage to publish, because they have never done it before. To prevent this pitiful loss of knowledge, we will assist people, that own unique observations, videos, photographs and experience to formalize them into a paper, which will be then published here.
This journal is made for mankind and for chameleonkind to make this Planet a better place to live.
Enjoy reading it and contribute!
