babies born!

Well, Iam not sure what happened, but one of my jacksons delivered a clutch of babies while walking around on the floor of the cage. I had no idea she was pregnant (at least not this far along) since she has been eating like a pig and was not big at all. Well she she ended up only having 14. The only reason I saw them was cause I found 2 climbing the side of the cage, so as I started investigating I noticed a lot of what looked like fresh poops then looked closer and realized they were actually babies! So I started pulling them out and breaking sacks and dropping them from short distances. I was able to save 8 babies, then there were the two already climbing around. So I now have 10 little babies. Once she was done delivering she climed up to the top of the cage and started sunning herself. I am not sure why she did not drop them from the top. I am just so glad I found them when I did!

Anyone that has kept Jackson's this has happened. They usually catch you off guard. I love a happy accident! Good luck with your new babies.

yes, this happened to me as well.... good luck with the babies.. i had 14 they all died within 3 weeks and i did everything i could. they love fruit flies!!

A litter of rudis and now these little ones; you certainly have your hands full!

Good luck with this bunch, they are a bit more challenging. But cute!

That is what I am afraid of. I was talking with my breeder friend and he said they sound like they are premature due to the hot weather change. Granted it is HOT out side but mine are inside. So who knows. I can see already some do not look so hot. I think I got spoiled with the rudis babies since they have done so well for me.

From what I know about Jacksons babies-keep them cool, and feed and water them lots. Many people kill the babies by keeping them too hot.

as far as I have been reading in the past they require the similar temps as the rudis. The rudis just looked so much better at birth and all were up and climbing on there own. These guys I had to break all open and I do not really know how long they were in the sacks for before I found them.

So here are a few more pix....
