Baby panther sleeping too much?

I have had my 10 week old panther for about 2 weeks now. I have his lights on a timer to run 9 -9. He continues to sleep at 8 am (lights still off for another hour) when i mist him and put crickets in his SunnyD feeder cup before heading to work. when I get home from work around quarter of 5 I usually find him in his basking spot. I check to see that he has eaten and mist his cage again. At this point, every day like clockwork, he climbs down to his umbrella plant and curls up for the night on a branch with my humidifeir blowing right into his body all night. Is it odd that he's going to sleep with still 4 hours on his "day Cylcle" with the lights still on? My other thought is that maybe he is just moving to more cover away from his basking spot as he is still not comfortable in my presence.

Would love to hear some thoughts on this. I am an easily worried first time keeper!

Hes probably waking and sleeping with the sun.

They do that typically.

esp if they are near a window.

And does he really start to sleep when he is on his umbrella tree? Because I heard from some cham owner here that their cham is in the sleeping position hours before the lights turn off and just wait. This is normal though! Mine goes on his sleeping tree sometimes two hours before the lights.

Camimom,

He is near a windows. They have heavy blinds and curtains, but you may be right. I hadn't thought of this.

Zsazsa85,

Yes, he actually sleeps. As long is there is not too much comotion around he will be asleep right around 5. I thought this might be unuasual since his lights are still on for another 4 hours, but as camimom has suggested, this is when the sun goes down at this time of year in my area.

My guys put their jammies on and tuck in at about 5pm as well.
Doesnt matter how the lights are programed if there is a window ;)
