Back from the vet

Well, Louie is back from the vet after he was dropped off yesterday and stayed over night with Dr. Scott Stahl. He called yesterday to tell us what he was going to do and what hes going to give us. He said that he thought maybe the duct between the nose and the eye might be clogged, so he flushed it out to see if that was the problem. He gave us Neobacimyx ointment, to apply it into his eye using a cathoder(i forget how to spell it),we are supposed to put it IN to his eye, its an anti inflammitory and anti-bacteria ointment. He said that Louie's weight was good, his eye looked good(the good one). He said that i dust the crickets with calcium/d3 supplements once a week. And vit A. once every other week.

Ya, the ointment seems to do pretty well for short term,meaning he opens his eye for a while after we apply the ointment. I think its better because we get it IN the eye, not just on the lid, and i think this method is attacking the source of his uncomfortable eye. I noticed that he was rubbing his good eye today though...He didnt express concern for vit A. defficiency.

Did he tell you what brand or what kind to use?

Was he even opening his eyes before this treatment?

And he's probably rubbing it because you're putting it on the eye itself and he feel somethings on it so he's rubbing it. It's like when they shed, it bothers them & they want to remove it so they rub their bodies everywhere (well mine does).

I am not familiar with the ointment, maybe someone else has used it before but if your cham is opening his eye & he didn't do this before then I would probably give it about a month to see if it gets better & monitor his behavior in the meantime.

Well at least you have given him something to think about when you went there & if he ruled it out then I would try what he suggested first. I've heard his name before & read it in cham books so he probably knows what he's doing.

I hope it's the same vet not just the same name.. lol..

Thank you for letting us know, and for the bump. (I missed your message yesterday.) So glad to hear that the doctor had a diagnosis, an initial treatment, and a plan. That has to be a relief.
