Bamboo

We are liking the look of the bamboo , question is will my baby girl like it ? Is it suitable along with other branches and textures ? If so does one order them on line ?

Bamboo sticks are generally available at any hardware store, cheap. You will get mixed views here I am sure. Personally, I don't care for them. They are super hard, slippery, and all the same diameter. I prefer to use natural branches from trees. You can gather all different sizes in a matter of minutes, and they are all free. Cut live branches off of a tree, not dead ones from the ground.

Again, just my opinion. :)

That's what I was wondering if it would be slippery . Especially when it gets wet . will it hold droplet like the real branches and sticks ? We are working on a new enclosure . It's all screened . I'm sure the humidity will be harder to keep up . I love how it looks but it has to be what best for her and safety . Thank you for your thoughts .

The bamboo is slippery wet or dry because it is so hard, and has a finish on it....
For holding droplets of water, I would look into appropriate live plants. My Pothos leaves hold water for days!!

My cham doesn't have any issues using his bamboo sticks dry or wet.
He has fairly thin bamboo in his cage so he can get a good grip around it.
I don't think it's his favorite surface to travel on but he doesn't avoid it either. The rest of the wood I use are lianas but they aren't as thin or as cheap as bamboo.

Hibiscus I love the thing is there known for being buggy .

? not sure what you are asking here..?

If you are asking if they are know to carry bugs, I would say that this is a possibility with any plants from the store. A good washing (soapy spray) ans rinse of the leaves should do away with any pests.

We have mainly branches ,vines , and plants right now . As you all know chameleons are not cheap so that's fine long as she's safe climbing . I just want her healthy and to love her environment .

Oh no I was not asking they are . There a bug magnet . There beautiful but very buggy have to be treated all the time .

I haven't seen this. But could be a problem in your area. I would have thought that once you cleaned the plant, and got rid of the pest. Problem would be gone. At least this is my experience.

Maybe @Extensionofgreen will chime in and help you get to the root of your problem with bugs..

Once a month I used to have to wash them . Then they would infect anything close . I stopped getting them . Does not happen as much out side here but as soon as there inside .

Hibiscus will suffer from spider mites, scales, mealy bugs, and fungal infection, largely because they need more light than we provide, in our enclosures. They also need air circulation and dislike stagnant air and wet foliage for long periods.

Agreed! One thing I've noticed with Hibiscus is that when they are happy, you will know. When they are not, they will certainly let you know!

They are not finished/sealed nd do not seem to be slippery even after Mist King drenches them. The 6 pack of 5 ft stakes are $2.17 and the 6 pack of 6 ft stakes are $3.27. If you don't like them, toss them. But I also use 2 artificial vines.

You can also use them to build a frame inside the cage to secure vines and other branches or bamboo. Maybe hang a plant, although I haven't tried it yet. I plan on using it to make a frame inside to hold vines and more bamboo so that I do not need to secure it against the cage or it's frame.

You have used them ? We just got the dragon stand screen large cage . It has shelves . We are just getting it set up .
Yes, with my juvenile panther who is now about 8 months old. Others have posted picks with bamboo in their cages. But I also have fake vines, fake foliage, real branches [that were bleached, soaked rinsed in water, baked and de-barked], along with two umbrella plants. The bamboo is so cheap, it's worth a try. People have also posted that they used Kulu sticks [for Michaels] which look incredibly slippery, since they looked sanded and or finished with sealer. Bamboo ain't half as shiny as Kulu sticks. But I havew not used Kulu sticks.
