Bamboo

I use wild bamboo in my veiled's enclosure. Make sure what you use is real bamboo and not the lucky bamboo sold commercially. Lucky bamboo is not real bamboo and is harmful if ingested.

While we're on the subject, can you grow wild bamboo indoors? As in, do you swap them out like hibiscus or are the inside of the cage ideal specs for wild bamboo? Thinking of getting some to compliment my benjamin ficus.

That is a great question... I'll be checking up to see if someone answers. I'm fortunate in the aspect that my in laws live in a rural area and have an unlimited supply of various sized bamboo.

I had some bamboo sticks but had to get rid of them because they were
too smooth and slipery, my guyz couldnt get a good grip.
I even tried sanding it, but that didnt work :(

All bamboo species contain cyanogen glycosides, not only "lucky bamboo" is toxic (it just contains saponines instead of glycosides). Those glycoside turn into hydrogen cyanide by enzymatical division, which can make most animals sick. But first symptoms only occur if eaten huge amount of leaves, so I wouldn't worry about using bamboo inside chameleon cages (with chameleons who don't eat the plants, of cause ;)). The only thing about bamboo is that they're too smooth and slippery for chameleons as already said. Therefore they're more a decoration element than a useful plant inside a cage.

I've heard people say that but my veiled grips onto it and climbs up and down the stalks without a problem. She's got a crazy strong grip.
