So I've seen the chameleon academy veiled care guide and it says how far uvb should be from the chameleon but no where does it say how for the basking lamp should be so I'm posting this thread to see if any of yall know.

What kind of uvb do you have?

Lol read that wrong. Basking lamp needs to be far enough away that you get the basking temps needed on the basking branch but isn’t so close that your chameleon can get burnt. A good test is to put your hand under the heat lamp for a few minutes to make sure it’s comfortable temps for the back of your hand.

Also be mindful of the casque. That often gets burnt because it’s typically closer to the heat lamp than any other part of the body.

I use the same distance of 8-9” as my uvb and then figure out what wattage of bulb is needed for my desired temp of 80. I start with something in the middle range, like a 60w bulb and go from there.
