Basking temperature for 4 month panther ambilobe

So I just got my little guy last night. He is a 4 month ambilobe. He already drank when I misted him last night and this morning which seems to be good. As far as eating I put in a couple crickets but I assume it will take a little bit for him to get comfortable in his new enclosure and start eating. My real question is basking temp. I got the bulb the broader recommended which was a 50w plant flood light and I got it in a ceramic dome fixture. The temp seems to be reading 88. My little guys seems to enjoy it (he is basking right now. Is that too hot? Thanks guys :)

For me- I've always kept babies the same temps as I keep adults.

Thermoregulation is a natural and deep instinct that they have- it is just as strong as their instinct to feed and drink and just as necessary for survival.

That said- I always make sure I have a good thermal gradient going- the whole cage is not hot, and there is a gradual temperature gradient- I believe in gradients, I don't believe in "hot spots"- hot spots with cool background temps cause burns. If you don't understand this paragraph- you are better going with Jann's recommendations.
