BB Fly Hatched

Cool deal! One of the 6 Blue Bottle Fly pupae I have in a deli cup hatched tonight. Will be Ego's first fly so we'll see if he likes em' in the morning

Another BB Fly hatched overnight so Ego got two this morning and ate them right up. Good! More variety

I made a purchase of 500 larvae from MantisPlace, thinking I could refrigerate them and hatch maybe 100 per week. My package was delayed two days by USPS for some reason, and all the larvae pupated by the time of delivery.

Pupae do not last as long so I had to hatch much more than originally planned. I hatched about 100 the first time! It was insane to see my chameleon mow them all down by the end of the day.

Unfortunately now most of my order either died in the fridge or have been hatched out, and my chameleon has been ignoring his crickets and roaches ever since his first taste of flies.

I think I will have to starve him for a few days until he gives in and eats some of his other bugs.
