Bedtime/Awake Times?

What time do you guys turn on the lights and off the lights for your chams?

Karma seems done in about 9pm so we turn off her lights and I am up for another hour but the living room is mainly dark and she crashes.
I get up at 5am but do not turn on her lights until I see eyes which is usually about 6am. But she still just chills under the lights, awake but chilling for another hour or so.

Am I turning them on to early, off too late?

Many people do a 12 hour on-12 hour off (reflecting equatorial cycles); others modify during the year (say 10 on, 14 off in winter; 14 on, 10 off in summer). My guy times his cycles on what the sun is doing outside; he's settled for the night around 5 pm in winter regardless of his light remaining on until ~ 7, and he won't really get up and start moving until the sun rises.

i've got my light on a timer which Darwin seems pretty happy with!

he knows when it's about to go off and is often settled well before in the winter and a about half hour before in the summer, not sure about when he wakes up, he's always up before me!

i would suggest getting a outlet timer, set it to the time the sun comes up and turn it off for twhen the sun goes down :)

If they are awake, but it is before the time you have worked out.... do you turn on their lights?
My lights are generally on a little after 7, off a little after seven, and I don't. Your 6 am is quite early enough; I would probably have them come on a bit later, but if she's really moving around before 6, you're okay. My guess would be as she gets older, she'll be slower to get up, and she'll also want to get up later in the winter, but that's just a guess.

I have everyone on timers, but I have been considering getting an X-10 type system (for more than just the Rep lights). The timers are roughly set to sunrise and sunset, though I do confess to keeping them up well past sunset during the winter.

I have mine on timers and I adjust them so they turn on after sunrise that way he doesn't have to be suddenly woken up from the lights being turned on. So right now I think it's around 6:30 on and 6:30 off.

Funny thing happened last night. I noticed his light was on at 8 pm or so and I looked in there and he was wide awake. I had accidently set his light to go on. He was acting like it was morning already! I turned it back off and within minutes he turned light colored again and was back to sleep right at the spot where he happened to be. Kind of funny how that works!

I turn on the room light at 6:30 and give him time to open his eyes and then turn on his enclosure lights, water, feed, mist. I get home around 5:30 and check on him and he is usually curled up ready for bed but still wide awake, so lights out at 6:30. I also cover the front of the cage in case a light gets turned on so it doesn't disturb him, he needs his beauty rest. :D

I just have a timer on from 8-8. I'm not sure what time he actually gets up (I get home from work at midnight, usually am not up for the day til 8:30/9), but he seems to go to bed as it gets dark outside, usually about 7:00-ish.
