I have backgrounds on 3 of the sides, but the 4th one, the door, she is always climbing on. I have a 16x16x30 cage and I know I need a bigger one for her but I don’t have the space or money right nowNot a ton you can do IMO. More then likely it will rip out. When it does put a little bit of plain neosporin on it. The kind that has no pain med additives in it.
Keep in mind if she is a big screen climber your going to want to deter that by placing something up against the sides. I have seen some people redo their cages and add lattice against the inside screen. This way they are gripping that instead or staying off of it all together. Make sure she has plenty of branches in the cage to travel as well.
i’ve had the lay bin in there ! she’s been receptive for about a week now. she climbs the screen usually but not this muchHas she already laid eggs? Because she’s showing her receptive colors and that would explain the screen climbing, especially in such small enclosure. She’s on the hunt best and perfect place to lay her eggs and she will continue doing this till the last moment prior on the laying process.
Mine took 4 till 6 weeks the first time. And loosing nails is a problem, she needs them for digging. During their receptive phase they’re extremely restless and can’t be stopped by anything. My girl is free range and stays there all the time, till she’s receptive, then our house is too small for heri’ve had the lay bin in there ! she’s been receptive for about a week now. she climbs the screen usually but not this muchi’ve heard they’re receptive for about a week or two and then they lay, is that true? cause I kinda can’t wait till she lays LOL
oh my 4-6 weeks ?Mine took 4 till 6 weeks the first time. And loosing nails is a problem, she needs them for digging. so between the receptive and gravid time, does she lose her receptive colors ever? or will they just change into her gravid colors? and then how long does she have the gravid colors for? I thought the colors would just switch over but now i’m confused, is there space in between the two events ?Don’t know, only got one so far as reference and every Cham is different. The second she was quicker, took only 2-3 weeks and the last time around 4 weeks.
what about when their green turns almost brown but they still have their blue and yellow ? isn’t that gravid? will they show gravid colors even if the eggs are unfertilized ?Nope, no color change (it only looks like the colors are getting more visible) and they can keep it afterwards. Mine still has her blue and yellow, but as bright as when she’s receptive. Normally they stop eating before the laying, varying from 1-3 days till a week with mine during her first time.
Here is my experience https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/first-successful-free-range-bioactive-egg-laying.182715/
pretty sure it’s a bruise, she got it after she squeezed between the screen and the lay binWhy does her knee look like it has some black on it?
can’t get a picture rn cause she’s sleeping but I do have a few others from her face. could also be a burn which i’m getting silver cream for cause she was on the ceiling by the heat lamp for a few minutes. what’s wrong thoCan I show me her other knee please?
They can get black with blue and yellow, when they’re gravid and when they see a male. That’s when they sign the males they aren’t available anymore and they show this with unfertilized eggs, but it’s only mood swing and nothing pertinent.what about when their green turns almost brown but they still have their blue and yellow ? isn’t that gravid? will they show gravid colors even if the eggs are unfertilized ?
okay good thank you so much! so sorry I was getting a bit confusedThey can get black with blue and yellow, when they’re gravid and when they see a male. Seeing those last pictures I would say she is already carrying eggs, she has a bit of potbelly.
