best humidity gauge for the money

Looking for an inexpensive yet accurate humidity gauge.

What's the one everyone likes for the money?

12 bucks at walmart and lowes.

I wondered what the shipping was....

Both those stores are far away as well. I'm sure I'll pass by some in the future and run in and snag a couple.

Yeah, the shipping on those HK ones is a little silly. But it's one of the few products I can get in SA for the same price as you Americans :)
I'm sure you can probably pick up similar ones for a good price at your local department stores (in our local stores, they're way more expensive), but either way, as long as you stick to something along that theme (digital, integrated thermometer/hygrometer, outdoor probe, memory function) you're getting the right gauge for a cham enclosure.

One other thing that I like about that HK one (over the Accurite one mentioned) is that both the Indoor and Outdoor temp readings are displayed at the SAME time (rather than having to cycle through the option). This is helpful to me when I'm making quick checks on my cages. With a previous device, I left it dialled into the Indoor setting for a few days and failed to notice that a change in seasonal temps had caused the basking spot (at the Outdoor probe) had spiked up a little too much.
Just a hint.

Tygerr. The Acu-rite does display both temps simultaneously. Check the photo. Anyway, whatever works and is priced best for you is great.

OK. I may be mistaken - just looks like in the photo it has time, temp then humidity (not both in and out temps).

"best humidity gauge for the money "?? Accurite!!! You have the option to show both in and out at the same time... You just can't see the time if you are viewing the "In" temp. The best part is the 1 meter waterproof probe... Try to find a Thermo/Hygro with all the features of the Accurite...WITH a 1 meter WaterProof Probe for cheaper tha. $13... you can't. Something like that with less features from ZooMed would probably be around $30. OSH, Lowes, HomeDepot, WalMart, Kmart, Target..Any store with a garden section... There is not a city in america that is without at least one of those stores. I highly recommend the Accurite.. I use it on all my cages, and is like it was made with keeping chams in mind...but it wasn't.:)

MCZoo. I just went to Lowes website and its not listed. Best I find one before they're out.

Ok, I'm sold. I got one from Dave Weldon but I need a couple more. I was just concerned it wasn't accurate.

Sorry to be different, but I've been following this thread for awhile now.

I use live plants and misting.
Let me see if I can ruffle a few feathers...(Tracey) :p
Unless your keeping Montanes, then humidity is the last thing I would worry about.

i think you joking...but..
its always a good thing to know
:)

Justin is right... If you have live plants and mist regularly.. It is pretty darn hard to screw up your humidity. But then again consider Justin also lives in one of the most humid states in the country. I monitor mine because if I don't watch it, sometimes between mistings it will drop down 25-30%. Really does depend on your climate. It is definately worth having in any cage IMO, if something is going wrong with your cham... It is just one more piece of data you have handy to add into the equation.

i keep montanes and my humidy drops to 20% even with a humidifier on my furnace.

i feel knowledge is power but i am no expert

My state has a tendancy to be VERY dry during some months. So I check my humidity, like the paranoied mommy I am, constantly, and definitely think a hygrometer is worth the cash.

Now on topic, I would get the accurite. :D
