Best Mister?

So if I'm going to do this (get my first Cham) I need to do it right and because of my work schedule that will involve a timed mister.

I've heard some are all but usless because the put out more of a stream of water rather than a nice spray.

So what are the better misters out there?

Timers too? I hear people having trouble with some timers.

I would like to have all this set-up and tested for a couple days before bringing home my first Cham.

Well, I went into this thinking a male Jackson because of the look but the more I read and look at other varieties, I'm now leaning toward a Veil or Panther. They sound like they may be "better" suited for a beginner. Some stunning color variations with those too.

I have had 3 veiled and now have a panther. I have made quite a few mistakes but joining this forum has been great, I have learned so much. The only veiled who was aggressive was one I bought that was older and hadn't been handled. He was so stressed that he would turn very dark if you looked at him. The rest have been very good natured.

Thanks Kate - Yea, Trying to do a lot of reading before I get one. Learning from everybody elses mastakes ;) I've learned sooo much just in the last 48 hours. I think I now know way more than the casual "whim" buyer that walks into a PetSmart and walks out with one 20 min's later lol.

I would have to second the Mist King, it's great!

And I would say that you shouldn't be too shy about getting a jackson's first. My first, and definitely not last, chameleon was a Jackson's. The main thing I would suggest is to try to find a captive bred one. My girl had some issues in the beginning and it turns out the vendor didn't tell the entire truth and sold me a wild caught :/ But they are amazing and with the horns looks so much like a little dinosaur.

EXACTLY!!!

Thanks for the advise all, I just placed an order for a Mist King...getting ready for my first Cham!!

I bought the "Ultimate Value Misting System". It has a slightly bigger pump than the bargin package, just in case I get a second cage and need to mist two

Already anticipating a second cham before U buy the first one! sounds like me ;)

I had a w/c jackson's male back in the late 70's! too long ago to remember much, but he was a bit grumpy.
No one knew anything about how to care for them back then!!

I have a veiled love him. They can be a bit agressive but shouldn't be handled much to begin with. Panthers require extremely similar car as a veiled and are more docile (though t truely depends on the individual cham) and have some excellent color variations.
Jacksons are sligjy more needy requiring lower temps higher humidity and different feeding.. which may work out to being easier depending on where ys live..

In any case the mistking is a nominal option!
