whats the best way to rehydrate my veiled thats under 3 months? i just saw his poop yesterday and it was like half yellow half white all through the urate. i did have a friend who works at petco help me force feed water because in the week and a half ive had him ive never seen him drink.

Force feeding is to stressful so I wouldn't do that. You could feed him hornworms which are packed with fluids, our you could put a plant in the shower and put him on it. Set the water so its Luke warm and aim it at the wall so it bounces back slightly onto the plant.after about teen minutes of the water hitting him he should start drinking

but i thought the shower was only for older veileds? and the horm worms wont those be too big for him?

You can order some really small hornworms, I think he would be fine in the shower as long as you are supervising, and as long as the water isn't blasting him

have you tried a dripper? Are you 100% sure he is not drinking? If his urate is partially white then he is getting some hydration. Do not force water on him unless it is absolutely necessary. An orange urate might be more of a concern. Also be very careful forcing water on your chameleon. You could do it incorrectly and he could aspirate the water into his lungs. Try feeding small silkworms and smallhornworms. If you want them to stay smaller remove them from the food every couple of days. some people rarely see their chameleons drink.

forcing water, especially one that age, is a seriously BAD idea.
Add a dripper, spray mist the plants more often (it will drink off the leaves) and for a longer period of time (leave the room so it can drink in private if needs be - some are shy drinkers), ensure the prey is well hydrated (feed the prey fruit and veg)

I rarely see my veileds drink.

mist more, for longer, leave them alone.

showers can be done at any age as long as the right precautions are taken.

but the reptile pet shop down the road uses one he has chams all the time. and where i bought him from (petco) he was in the cage with one. maybe hes acustomed to it as a water source? if they dont drink running water or standing water what kind do they drink? water motion only works two ways haha. misting is running water as im sure yours nor anyones drinks it out of mid air. not trying to be a dick but its just contrary to what ive seen.

Well the petshop and petco is wrong.

they dont drink running water, or standing water.

misted water is not the same as running or standing. it is tiny water droplets.

they drink water droplets on leaves and twigs. that is how they hydrate.

waterfalls breed bacteria. if a cham poops in it, or a feeder dies in it, and a cham eats that feeder or for some reason, drinks.. they are not infected.

if a cham falls in it, they drown.

its just ive misted my ass off and he wont drink im running out of options here. im just terrified this cham will die of dehydration. since ive herd dehydration is the main reason for death its just im in a state of paranoia

First..
RELAX.

his urate isnt orange. hes not sleeping durign the dya, and his eyes arent closed.

Just cuz you dotn see him drink, doesnt mean he isnt.

I have 7 chams.. I almost NEVEr see any of them drink.

i see my mantid drink more than my chams do.

Get a mistking. you can set the timer, and let it go.

the problem is that its wierd when i take him out of his cage he wants to sleep. he almost closes his eye immediately. his eye seem ever so slightly sunken. i just dont want to stop a problem before it is one you know?

in the house sometimes. but like hes awake and i just took him out to look him over i went in the bathroom where the light is on and he had his eyes closed. when hes in his cage hes awake but doesnt really leave the basking spot for much. which is why im concerned of his drinking. when i mist ive been told that hitting him with the mist helps him trigger his drinking but he just runs and hides. i try to persist but he just hides until i stop then goes back to his basking spot.

If its darker hes been triggered to sleep.

he probably sees soemthign that he doest like in the bathroom, esp if he can see his reflection.

just keep mistingm they get over it at some point, my guys hated it too at first now they LOVE my mistking.

Whats your basking temp at?

prolly close to about 85 my humidity/temp reader is just the suction cup kind but i put it on there after i read your thread near his basking spot. and its climbing pretty quick but id say 85 maybe slightly lower.

how big is his basking spot? like how much space has light?

i would get a digital thermometer and measure again, those cheap ones dont always work.
