Best way to transport Cham to the vet?

Hi all! I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what is the best way to transport a cham to the vet. The closest vet that is experienced with chams is about an hour and a half away (I live in the redwoods up in Northern Cali so everything is a journey!). My guy isn't ill or anything; I just have 3 weeks off work and thought now would be a good time to schedule a check up and get a fecal done to ensure he's in good health (when I purchased him he had been returned to the breeder by his previous owner & had just over came a slight nutrient deficiency so I think it'll be good to have him examined). Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.;)

I have a clear plastic reptile container which is very big. I put a blanket in the bottom for padding just incase and I add a cane and a vine for her to sit on. Pop on the lid and off he go! Depending on how the weather is here in the uk I sometimes lay a hot water bottle under the blanket just for a small amount of heat. Then in I'm on my own I just put her on the seat and put the seat belt round the box. She's fine and doesn't mind at all

You could put a plant in the passenger seat for him to ride on or some people use a box with a stick going all the way through for them to hang on too. Some people will use a laundry basket with a zipper on the top for a temp travel cage. (I am on my phone so I can't find you a link to one) :( just put something in the laundry basket for him to hang on to during travel :D

whatever container you use, i agree 100% with ferret’s post re: making it dark, not allowing them to see out, and they usually just go to sleep. for a cham that is much less stressful than seeing all of the very unfamiliar activity going on around them.

there are umpteen thousand cage/carrier/box designs, but is can be as simple as using a styrofoam shipping box (b/c they are thick) or just a small styrofoam cooler (thinner but ez to find and cheap) with just one or two ½” holes in the sides for some ventilation (or none at all for a short trip under an hour or two) and either some plastic vines for them to hold on/skewers pushed through to make a lattice/even just some soft cloth.

i have some of the sweetest chams in the world but i still “put them to sleep” for rides. it’s going to be a stressful day for them just being at the vet, so why not minimize as much of the stress as you can?

Thank you so much! I hate to put him through any unnecessary stress but feel maybe a check up is due. I really appreciate everyone's info & especially the vets. I want to take care of my guy the best I can and make the experience the least stressful as possible. Thanks again!
