Best way to water a picky chameleon?

Hello! I'm curious to see what works best for others when it comes to hydrating chameleons.

My male panther used to drink off of the leaves in his cage whenever I misted him (3-4 times a day with a misting bottle), but now I never see him drinking this way. I also have a drip system that I run for him every now and then but he never shows interest in that either.

He really seems to like it when I fill a small dish with water and hold it up at an angle next to him, though! He likes to drink the running water going down the side of the dish. I've been looking into fountains for his cage but I'm not sure if he'd want to go towards the bottom of his cage for a drink every time (the fountains I've found are all too heavy to hang from my Dragon Strand ledge attachments).

I've tried showering him but this guy just does not like being touched by water it seems! Even when I mist him he shies away. I really would love to install something with constant running water/a water intake system like a fountain, since he seems to prefer drinking that way.

Does anyone have any suggestions or similar experiences? If there are any DIY things I can put together for his cage that would also be great!

Is he dehydrated? You just might not see him drinking off of leaves.

Instead of a fountain try researching chameleon cantina(way better than a fountain IMO). Warning though, you will have to clean it on a daily basis.

Honestly the best thing is to invest in an automatic mister like the Mistking. He may not like being sprayed with bigger drops and the misters give off a fine mist. They NEED the mistings not only to drink the drops on the leaves but to clean out their eyes and help with shedding. Misting is not an option, it's a necessity. I never see my guys drink. But their urates are nice and white so they are hydrated. Most of the time you won't see them drink.

Fountains are just a breeding ground for bacteria and mold can easily grow in the tubing.

Buy a Mistking or Climist system. JannB has a blog that suggests that we should initially turn misting on for several minutes so that the cham figures out it is a water source. I had my Mistking on for 10 minutes 3 times during daylight, then switched it 15 minutes twice, until he learned.
