Big Long Eggs. Could it be Twins?

BREEDERS QUESTION:

Here’s pictures of my 5 veiled eggs. A few of them are really long. Do you breeders think there could be two babies in one egg in a couple of these?

Look at the third picture/page in this sight…see the position of the babies…one facing each direction…that’s the issue with twins hatching…if one pips, the other is facing the “wrong way” and can’t poke its nose out to breath and IMHO this is why one dies usually….so if it is twins you need to know so you can save them both IMHO…

Thank you for the threads and the pictures Lynda. You are so good at research. I’m going to keep a very close eye on this one egg.

I seem to remember reading about one case where the pair of chameleons kept producing quite a few sets of twins over the years…but I can’t find the reference at the moment.

Nice pics.
When where they laid? Have you pen lighted them yet? The way you have them, no need to touch or move. (y) I am sure you know this but others learning might not.:)
I might have had the smallest.... heee heeee

They were laid about 6 months ago.

Here’s a picture from right after they were laid. A few went bad and I gave some to friends.

Have any hatched yet (you or friends)?
You have my brain working overtime.
Not trying to take over thread, just sharing.
Here is a pic at 5 and half months. The back can be seen using the pen light.
Usually, at this stage it takes about 5 to 8 days to hatch. I know you have experience but info can be for others. (y)
FYI Last year I was experimenting with egg position (North, S, E and W). After 3 months changed direction of 5 eggs.
They all opened from the tail end. WEIRD! So, I make sure after month 1, they don't change.

@redhorse said…”FYI Last year I was experimenting with egg position (North, S, E and W). After 3 months changed direction of 5 eggs.

LOL--- glad you helped the little critter, or it would have drowned:cautious:. (y) I figure if people move their eggs or incubator it might change egg direction. :)
