Bird Seed Moths

These moths are pretty small, slightly smaller than waxmoths so would only really be suitable for chams that are quite small but they are easy to grow. They are escape artists so don't use them unless it's a well sealed and screened cage. Basically they will grow in any bird seed but do not seem to grow in flour. I am growing them now in both sunflower seed and finch feed. The larvae stay pretty small so would really be better suited to say dart frogs than chams.

Be aware...They are either Indian meal moths or Mediterranean flour moths. Once they are in he house they are VERY difficult to get rid of. You will find the cocoons everywhere. They can even chew through sealed bags...so be aware of this before inviting them into your home. They will go in many foodstuffs in your home unless they are sealed tightly. They will go into thee gutload for your other insects and in the "salads" you feed any of the omnivores or vegetarian reptiles you own...just a word of caution.
