my panther chameleon is 7 months old and was in perfect health and shape. This morning I went to go buy him food and came back shocked when I noticed something wrong with his tail. Anyone have any ideas the cause or how to treat???

Red bulbs are not recommended for chameleons. can you please fill out this husbandry form so we can see if anything could have to do with the tail.

Stop the D3 immediately for now. He very likely has a D3 toxicity. One of the symptoms is a blackening and loss of the tail tip. It would be best to treat him at this point with the help of your veterinarian. A review of your husbandry might uncover some other problems.
