I just recently purchased 50-60 Blaptica dubia mixed sizes and 3-4 adult pairs. i need pics of peoples setups. this is very important i want to see what to do different. also i need to know if anyone sells them to people. Thank you

Don't have pics, but basically a 40 gallon plastic rubbermaid container with egg crate on one side vertically so frass falls through, and food and water gel on the other. I cut out half of the top and used a soldering iron to attach aluminum mesh by holding it to the plastic and melting it. It holds in place really well.
I started with the same amount as you and it works very well for them.... lots and lots of room to grow- just keep adding egg crate.

Heres a semi bad pic of mine, but basically its a tub with holes cut in it, screen taped on the holes. Egg crates on one end with a heating pad under them, food on the other. Its quite a simple setup

Im just not understanding why my roaches dont eat the food as fast as everyone says they eat romain but not a banana but i saw a video on youtube of them killing the banana tips on food and breeding
also i never see my roaches roaming around like ur pic shows how can i fix that

I just got my roaches started last week also, they do not seem to be eating at all. I get a lot of movement at night, but never see them in the day. I've got cricket food from cricketfood.com which they nibbled at a little bit but never finished. Ive tried oranges and some leafy greens, seemed like nothing was ate. along with some cat/dog food. Anyways I basically have the same exact setup as seen in the pictures. Just hoping they do not die on me.

Howdy,

Try keeping the temp around 90F. I've found that they don't seem to eat much or breed much without being kept warm. Be careful not to overheat them and end-up with baked roaches .

I rarely see any of my dubia roaming around. They usually stay in the tp rolls or under the egg crates. If you notice frass, chances are, they are eating. If there is food in there, they are 99.9% feasting on it without you seeing. I keep my bin floor covered with my roach mix and throw in potatoe, carrot and yams a few times a week. I also keep water crystals in there too.

I started to reply and then saw Dave W's message. Yes, I agree, my first thoughts were that they are probably not warm enough. They like it VERY warm. About 90 degrees is a good breeding temp for them. I got a sticky reptile heat pad and affixed it to the end of the glass tank (on the outside of the end where their egg crates are). My tank has a screen top, so I cover half the top to retain more heat above their egg crate area. They eat and breed like crazy. Their room stays dark, but even so they are not very active during the day. But that is good, as they are sposed to have a rest period.

Yes mine are not active at all in daytime. Look at them at about 1am, they're everywhere. They're even kind of noisy at that time
