Is it possible?? I have 2 5 month old male panthers that are ready to mate and I have 1 veiled female who is most certainly ready to mate. Would it work? Is it worth a shot?

Firstly the panthers would have no interest in the female veiled, secondly its more probable they would attack her than even attempt to mate.

Secondly, no you cannot mate a Panther with a Veiled, with under the Chameleon Genus - Pardalis (panthers) and Chameleo ( veiled ) are two different species, and could never successfully mate and produce offspring.

Not entirely true Spiny.
They might actualy want to breed with her, in the event where it does happen the eggs will just turn out infertile.
That doesnt mean you should try it anyway, it could cause complications.

I have seen pics on this forum of a veiled mating with a panther.

I think you can cross breed oustalets with panthers though:)

Any time I have seen males introduced to females of another species I never one saw a head bob or suitable coloration..... usually a threatening stance and angry coloration....

But I agree that it would be foolish to say they would "never" be interested.

I just think it would be ridiculously unlikely.

As for Outaletti (sp?) and Pardalis.... they are both Furcifer, so it could be possible... But I have not heard of it before. Interesting....

Yeah it is unlikely to have anything positive actualy come out of a cross breed attempt.

There is a pic of an oustalet X panther in the new revised Chameleon hand book.

That would be cool to have a huge panther! Is this something that is being worked on seriously?

I dont think so. Maybe there is someone hiding around that is doing it.

I think the pic was of 1 that was in the wild:confused: I dont actualy remember it might have been someones cham.

It was nothing like just a huge panther, it looked robust like an adult oustalets and not that much of a burst of colours, I think its more about the physical features like the head (I didnt get a good look at the pic, its my friends book).

The answer is no and shame on you and everyone who has replied without completely condemning this idea.

Different species. Heck, different GENUS!

calyptratus and pardalis producing offspring - impossible:(

pardalis and oustaleti producing offspring - proven hybridization:D
