Has anyone ever thought of breeding their panther? I am sure you have. I am thinking of breeding my nosy bees but the only pro, is the the female is non Receptive. Do not even attempt to breed if the female is non receptive. I m a herper so any questions please ask!!!. Nosey be panther chameleons are one of the best cams to breed. Their gestation period is 9-10 months. If you really want a cham, or want to breed a cham you should do a lot of research. I have learned from past experiences from people who asked me questions that research is a essential. When i got my first cham, a long while ago i did loads of research, any questions please ask, i am going to tell about some panther cham facts below.
Technically this species has no breeding season. After mating the female wii lay 20-30 eggs, in some cases more. The eggs will stay inside of her for 45 days- 6 weeks. When juvenile you can tell sexes by their gular pouches:red in females blue in males. They have a ritual in mating along with a lot of other species. A Panther female is occasionally non receptive, but she is receptive most of the time. When a male gets near a female regardless of receptivity he will nod his head and approach her. He will often display dark patterns when approaching her. The female may react according to her receptivity. If her mouth is gaping remove her immediately. She wil display dark coloration. By the way a chameleon's color change is caused by chromatophores in the skin.
Females should be given supplementation quite a bit after eggs are deposited. That is the most essential part of pregnancy. Make sure you also put a container filled with substrate so she does not get an internal infection caused by her keeping in an egg.
In incubation Panthers have no set time, just keep the temp at about 73-80 degrees F. You can build your own incubator. Just be careful to keep the eggs at the right rh.
When the Panthers hatch you can put them all in the same enclosure, then move them as they get older. When they are younger you can feed them flightless fruitflies or two week old crickets, if you are new to the trade you can buy them at petsmart, petco, etc. Any questions again I will answer!!!
