Bug Grub

Hello all,
I've been searching around for what I think is a 'solid review' on Bug Grub by the bio dude. Just thought I post here and see if anyone on the forums has had a chance to buy some and try it out. Plus, I haven't bought any myself obviously but from the looks of it he doesn't offer a list of added ingredients, which prompted me to send him an email, so whenever he gets back to me I'll make sure to list it here.
Thanks!

I'm curious to see if he gives you an ingredient list and if it is just the handful he lists on the video. If you do try Josh's in a wet mix let us know how it goes. I've tried bug burger wet and dry and got mixed "reviews" from my bugs on it so I've not used a good portion of what I bought of it. For my dry I use @Matt Vanilla Gorilla 's and wet is currently either water crystals or a blend of squash types and mixed greens depending on which bug at any given moment. While I have zero intention on switching away from Matt's dry since my bugs love it, I am curious on Josh's as a wet gut load.

He just got back to me this morning stating he wouldn't be able to due to some trade reasons.
I mean, it doesn't necessarily mean he offers a bad product, but I'm scared to invest and gut load with unknown ingredients. I mean I'd still love to hear what other's say about it though.

I use repashy gut loaders for my crickets. I have read the ups and downs on it, but they love it. anybody else have any opinions on repashy gut loaders?

It's not great. We recommend fresh produce above commercially available products, which are not tailored specifically to chameleons. Try cricket crack if you must use something pre-made

Why do you say it not great ?

Why do you say it not great ?

Because the first two ingredients are made from rice and corn. Not recommended gutload items for chameleons by any means. Keeps bugs alive, doesn't provide useful nutrients. You should read the gutload section of the care sheets on the forum, it is well known that home made gut loads from fresh produce are far superior. Commercially available products are the easy way out and we ought not cut corners when it comes to our pets.

I could very well be wrong but that seems a little weird not to share important information. Just my .02

I share all the ingredients in my bug gutload, there's just a lot XD (25-30 depending on the week) I don't like those who don't share, it's a requirement by law in commercial selling. But technically if you aren't listed as a business you don't have to worry about it. I still try my best to list everything every time and will always say so everytime someone asks me. I also give out my recipe or the limited recipe if someone asks for it. Most people just don't make it completely once they realize how much work goes into it

I can sort of understand not giving specific trade secret type info out but, like you I'd like to know at least what's in it. Though, in all fairness, I don't know all 150-300 ingredients in Matt's either. I know his cham's are beautiful and healthy as was Blue when I got him ( my avatar) from Matt last year though.

I'm not sure really how in-depth I can go on it here but I've stopped using all of my repashy products. My bugs preferred Matt's gut load to bug burger. I was using cal plus lod but after a convo in one of the cham grps on fb I've stopped using it too.

I use the Bio Dude bug grub. The roaches and crickets go absolutely crazy for it. I also use it with my super and mealworms, and for my isopod and springtail cultures. It is always demolished. I know of a handful of ingredients he uses, but for the large part it is a mystery. For this reason I still use mainly fresh fruits and veggies dusted with bee pollen. The reaction for the bugs going insane over the grub must be a good sign however.

So should I stop using repashy gutload ? Why is it so bad ?

Again, I think one of the other members wasn't saying so much that the repashy gut load will be the death of your cham. However, like stated about it's better to make your own gutload at home.

I can sort of understand not giving specific trade secret type info out but, like you I'd like to know at least what's in it.

Agreed completely, I'm not looking for him to be explain in concise and extensive detail about how he makes his product and EVERYthing that he uses, but rather just a safe list to know he's offering at least somewhat of a good product.

I'd prefer to not keep side tracking this thread on something it wasn't originally about. Join chameleons after dark on fb and search repashy, or look up jimmy holleran of crazy house chams and send him a msg or send me a pm and I will tell you what was said and what I noticed in my own chams at the time of that thread in cad.
